tax stamp waiting times

Has anyone here applied for a tax stamp in the past year or so? If you have, how long did it take for the thing to come thru?

Seems pretty close, though. I'm seeing reports of 6-8 months but that's also from the ATF

I applied for one in early July and picked up the item in December. Right at 6 months.
6 months is pretty quick. We are not Efile here but mailing in the form we have been getting them back in the 7-10 month range lately(yes, it varies that much).
That's really disappointing. Definitely changes my plans.

I mailed one in about November 1st. Still waiting.
213 days and counting for a Rugged Obsidian 9. Status today "pending".
Maybe it could have been approved sooner if I "e-filed" but I went paper, for a physical stamp. Gotta have a physical stamp, I think they are the coolest thing ever, and for $200 I want to hold it, not look at it on my phone. I'm a hard head.
Its been about 10 years ago but it took me 8 months then because I had to be finger printed 4 times since they said they could not read my prints, I thought I might have a new job as an outlaw since I had no prints. LOL
People always hem and haw about the waiting time. My response has always been "the time is going to pass anyway, if you don't do it, in 9 months you won't be any closer to owning a silencer"
Been selling nfa items for 9 years now, just do it. In 9 years I can remember people at the beginning that didn't want to do it and still probably haven't elsewhere. For perspective they would have gotten their silencer years 8 years ago.
I'm definitely leaning toward the tax stamp, @shootuadeal. I'll probably start the process very soon.
As I understand it, the difference between the trust and the individual stamps are the ability to add people to the tax stamp usage. Is that a good summary?

Yes, if you want people to be able to use your silencer when you aren't around they have to be on your trust. It isn't as simple as just putting their name down, they need photos, fingerprints and a filled out responsible person questionnaire as well.
I've got a few items personally, but likely going to use a trust in the future for more expensive items. One thing I hadn't thought of until your post is can a person set it up as a trust and add people later or will the entire process have to start again?
I've got a niece and nephew that are interested in my fun items that I'd like to be able to leave them when I am long gone, but one of the two isn't yet of age.

You can amend your trust at a later date to add other people.
