Anyone playing with barrel harmonics using rubber O-rings?

I know they have barrel dampeners but they're kind a big. So I was looking for something and I came across a bag of thicker than the average silicone O-rings. Not quite small enough to fit the barrel but I thought maybe?

I doubt that 'o-rings' will help much. I did get good results with one of the slip on rubber/polymer barrel dampeners on a slim barreled 257 Wby. This worked for a couple of years and then the dampener got stiff and wouldn't hold position.
Mobuck - So you reckon it's the size? The chunk of rubber that does the dampening. Not the rubber o-rings causing a dead spot.
Maybe for you you could slip couple of o-rings to keep the dampener in place.
The 'dampener' has some weight to it and this combined with the very slick finished barrel and moderate recoil makes the dampener walk forward.
Maybe some sort of super glue would keep the dampener in place but I found other rifles that worked nearly as well with less recoil and much less drama at the reloading bench.
