Weren't those thing a larger Pintos way back when? Let me guess the New Maverick is a transformer.
It was kind a strange since it looked to me like it was a F-150. I would've thought they'd name it the "New" Ranger. You know to avoid us old people who remember alternate history.

But it's still a Ford.
My mother-in-law and her husband both have them. If you crawl under them, you can see they aren't really trucks. They are uni-body construction with no frame and they have an independent rear suspension (not totally anti-truck). They are based on the Ford Escape so that should say a lot. But, for those that only need to haul dog food, paint, and some items too large for the small SUV's they seem all right. They are under-powered in my opinion but sure do sip gas.
bambihunter - They need to bring back station wagons with big engines.
Great looking truck thing that would be very useful for most folks. Except it is built by Ford and will be a maintenance money pit from Hades after the warranty is out.
They seem really popular up here... One may be nice... We certainly don't need anymore trucks we have 4 including the Suburban.

Hyundai makes one too. The Santa Cruz.
You pickin fights!!! I love my F150!!
Supposedly in 2025 Subaru is bringing back a Baja and Brat to compete with the Sante Cruz. IMO Subaru was really short sighted in walking away from those models.
My Uncle has an old Baja... Best thing ever invented. With the tail gate down I can get 4 bales of hay in the back nicely. We've put 6...

I have the new Ranger. If I keep my foot out of it the computer shows almost 27 mpg. With the electric turbo on that little 2.3 it will lay your head back if you put your foot into it.
I have the Ridgeline for my current needs it is perfect. It is better daily driver and more than then enough truck. There was a time when I needed those 3/4 ton trucks when I had the business
Looks good. Every time I try to park my F150 in a crowded parking lot, I think maybe I should get a Ranger.
"They are under-powered in my opinion but sure do sip gas.".............just ain't so, that little 4 banger has lots of 'snap' and gets mid 30's for milage.
tomh. - I saw one that looked like Sant-something but being a dark ride I couldn't make out the rest of the word. Santa Cruz is a few towns away from me. Featured in the movies like "Lost Boys" and "Sudden Impact".
Ford is suffering from a huge naming problem.
Maverick should not be a pick up, and Mustang should not be a CUV.

Don McManus - I never understood the electric Mustang that didn't look like a "Mustang" of the same year. The people who name Ford rides don't even have to come up with a new name. They just recycle. I wonder if they'll bring back "Pinto"?
we have the 2.5 liter FWD Hybrid Maverick, have about 2000 miles on it so far , no problems yet and it did very well in the cold weather when we had some of that , I put good snow tires on it right off the bad and it did really good on bad roads , so far so good ,
I was down in Mason City IA this morning and saw the Ford dealer had one on the lot
just like the looks of this one more than the ford, to early to know how they hold up though.....
I’m going to get a ranger to tow behind our motorhome. Nice to hear that they are liked. I was wondering about the 2.3 motor.
