Why my Marlin/Ruger 1894 is not here yet

CALNNCCALNNC Member Posts: 2

Waiting patiently for the 1894 I ordered in .44Mag, through my local gun shop who uses Zanders as a supplier. After several months, I emailed Ruger inquiring on the status of production, and they reported back that Zanders had just received a shipment. My gun shop owner, both good friend and neighbor too, told me he had received notice that his order for 4 was ready to ship, but…he had to order a Ruger 5.7 along with each of the rifles. Zanders expected him to order 4 guns he did not want, and apparently nobody else does either, in order to get the 4 rifles he has customers waiting for. He did check with Ruger and they reported that this was not their policy, but something Zanders must be doing to get rid of inventory. My gun shop said if Zanders had made a special discount, maybe, but no, they wanted full wholesale on what appears to be a dud as a pistol.

I deal with Zanders weekly they have never done anything out of ordinary business with me. My account has the rifle still backordered.

All of the wholesale guys do this same thing. A couple weeks ago Iron Valley (formerly known as Bangers) was doing a deal where you could order Ruger lever guns if you ordered a certain number of other models. Not one of the wholsale guys is getting "what they want"…..but if you buy a pile of stuff you can get ONE THING that you want…..maybe.

Imagine the army of salespeople for all of the various wholesale outfits trying to get their hands on the one model that everyone on the planet wants. They get to make up whatever game they want when it comes to these things when it comes to what everyone is trying to get.

Iron Mountain and Zander doing the same to Me too. Don't need the extras.

II did find bit of rusty 1894 44 mag 3 weeks ago. Had sat in a case for years. Internally was great.

Worked some magic and cleaned up good, bead blassed and dark blue., bleached out the spots on the wood. Not bad looking, but will always be a ugly truck gun, till my UPS guy saw it. $750.00 in my pocket, doubled my $$$, in 3 weeks.

Ruger Promises a 41 Magnum Mid year !

I pick up at Zanders sometimes for my FFL. THEY really do stiff the people do get the items that sell well. IT is a fact. My FFL got a couple with some other stuff they pushed. The 5.7 is illegal in Illinois so they sold them some other stuff to get the two levers that were already sold.

    It's common.

I deal with it everyday. We call it holding guns hostage.

I did not know that. We only order in stock items don't back order.
