Yup I've been in the pot too long. Good thing I'll be going on a "Stay-Cation" next week I can save a few bucks on fuel.

Oh that reminds me I got a Gulf gas station now. It's a name change from I forget what it was before Valero? But savings of .70 cents I may have to carry cash. Gulf is good gas, right?

Well, now you know why food prices are high. Growing, processing, transporting, and presenting fresh vegetables or meat is a fossil fuel intensive enterprise.

Just curious, are all wages double what the are in the rest of the country in order to afford those gas prices?

I would have to earn a lot more or drive a lot less if prices were that high in my state.

Used to think we were getting a deal in PR before I realized gas is priced per liter and not per gallon over here, for some reason. Turns out that (per gallon) it's the same price as the mainland. Thankful that my commute is only 15 minutes per trip in my comically small Honda Fit, but my heart goes out to those with larger vehicles and longer commutes.

The taxes on gas in DEMOCRAT controlled Ca is more than the product itself. CA also has the highest income tax of the 50.

Federal gas tax is 18.9 cents a gallon and I see where California state tax is 77.9 cents a gallon as of July 2023. In western Illinois gas is $3.70 a gallon, state tax is 45.5 cents a gallon. If after election Biden should remain in office I’m afraid $5.70 a gallon will look like a bargain basement sale.

wife & I 'winter' in Bullhead City Az., just across the river from Ca. Gas is $1.50 something cheaper on the 'good' side of the river. LOTS of Ca. license plates at the gas stations.

Chiefr You are absolutely correct. Now as far as Lucky4597 talked about the price of gas going up when there is a price increase, it also goes down when there is a decrease in price as well. Some people fail to understand that the price of gas already in the pipe line changes with the market. It’s a commodity. Company’s pay a lot of tax. When governments tax the company’s the company’s pass the tax along to the consumers. If they didn’t they would go under. It’s a lot better to be self sufficient energy wise than to rely on OPEC and other nations to set the price of crude oil.

@Lucky4597 There is over 500 years of oil left in the United States, there is plenty of time to change over to electric. Consumer demand is what will bring about change in the market. And right now there is no demand for something that isn’t convenient to own, and not as dependable and efficient mileage wise as the gasoline engine.
This electric vehicle dream is just that, a dream. I understand about dreaming, but I also understand about waking up.

How else are we to pay for their schemes? I reckon I'll be paying for more with the illegals. There was a bumper sticker I once saw something about millions are depending on me working.

I dont have a problem with someone making a profit: USA is a capitalist republic. When Biden instituted EOs stopping construction of the Keystone pipeline and terminating fracking and drilling on federal land, gas went from around $2 to $4 per gallon as predicted. Then we have the uninformed who fail to believe corps profits are reinvested in the corporations and earnings are passed to stock holders.

BTW Corps only get tax breaks when they do what government tells them to do.

I not sure where you live. But here in the United State we don’t like the government telling us how we should live and restricting are rights to travel. 248 years ago the British and their king George tried to tell us how we were to live and were restricting are rights. We told them to go pound sand.
