at the top of the page has a yellow 7 by it. I can't get it to go away, even after I click on it, it will leave the 7 by my name, then when I go to a different thread the yellow 7 comes back. Is this because you all closed my ticker thread???????? is there any way to get it gone or do I just live with it??

Notifications happen when you get a direct message or when you get referenced in a comment.
Go to your icon, choose 'mark all viewed' and see if the '7' goes away.

…hillbillie…try going to the bell and left click the bell, notification number should disappear…
I have numerous times, it goes away till I open another thread then it comes back………

I'd say you are experiencing the miracle of the bells hillbille.
Try to just hit your refresh circle with the arrow at the top left of your page. It works for me when I have similar problems.
I had an engine service light that kept coming on in my truck. A little black tape seemed to do wonders.
Maybe that's what this is. Have you taken the problem to your GB dealership, hillbillie?

To remove notifications from within the forums:
Click on the bell. It should drop down a list of topics you were mentioned in.
You must click on each topic individually, going to that topic. You dont need to comment in each topic just view. This will clear that notification from the bell.
To remove being notified;
click on your name to go to your profile
click on Edit profile
Scroll down to Notification preference
check or un-check each method of notification as you like. The bell, is the bell at top of page in the forums. The other symbol is for E-Mail notification.

What happens when you click on the bell??
the list you talked about comes up, last I looked it said 22, I clicked on top one and they all disapeared except the 7 came back up. Just now it said 8 with yours at top for this one. I clicked on and it went back to 7, I have clicked on all showing and did as you said in edit profile, yellow 7 keeps returning……
When the list comes up, click on any one topic. That should take you to that topic. Going back to general discussion , not the back button, should deplete the number by the bell by one. Do this for each notification.
Editing your profile should stop any further notifications but not remove what's already there.
I have done that, only when I have clicked on the 3 topics listed all the numbers go but still leave the yellow 7, I only had 3 topics listed, I wonder if it has something to do with the one getting closed before I cleared them all…. it was the, saw on the ticker thread……
Topic being closed shouldn't affect it. It only needs to be viewed to clear from notification.
thanks anyway Joe, all new ones do clear but it keeps going back to 7, I have gone back in my discussions link and opened them back last few months, maybe owles has wedged himself onto one and won't let go………..
all the new ones do disapear but reverts back to 7, and for some reason it won't go away, It must be some type of glicth in my computer as I have one other that never resolved itself, the box to the right with the catagories listed doesn't have politics, I have to go back out to the home page and scroll down to find it…
