As I’ve said before. If asked by a doctor just say NO. Don’t enter into and argument or try to explain that the question has nothing to do with why you’re there. You are only telling the doctor that you own a gun, and he will look at you as combative and lying.
    Just say NO.

Yep they are trying anything they can. It's like the "mental health" questions the VA folks ask every time, I told the nurse last week, when asked if I get upset or feel threatened? I said answering these types of questions is upsetting me.

I'm guessing it's OK to answer if the Doc asked what you're carrying these days. Wouldn't be the first time he's asked my advice on EDC matters.

Sometimes you run into a Doctor that does not subscribe to the anti-gun ideology.

This was true with my first Vet, Dr. Michael Gilman, DVM from Monroe ,NY. Doc was a kind, gentle man and founded Goosepond Animal Hospital. Doc came up from Virginia where he was a large animal vet ( horses, cows, etc) and after arriving in NY switched to small animals.

Doc was a three position Smallbore Master Shooter. He shot on the rifle team at Cornell and he shot on my team in the winter league at West Point.

On my last visit at the Vet's I asked about Doc and no one seemed to know what happened to him. I started to search as we had drifted apart over the years. Turns out he had just passed away in Austin, Texas at 91 years old. He was such a brilliant man and a shinning example for the shooting sports. Sadly, he spent the last couple of years with Alzheimer's Disease.

If you are so inclined to read about Doc, his obit Michael Gilman, DVM is in The Times Herald Record, Middletown, NY. Sadly, there was no mention of Doc's love for shooting and that he was a Master Shooter in the obit. I often thought about Doc while reading about Karl down in Virginia here on the Forum.———————Ray

My VA doctor never asks me about gun ownership. His nurse that checks me in and reads my vitals does however. 😠

Seems my strong lifelong moral code about lying has hit an impasse!!

I only go to the VA for my hearing aids. It is a very humbling experience to go across the Hudson River to Castle Point or Montrose. My Brothers in Arms need their services more than me. I am tired of their questions and probably won't go back. ———————-Ray

About five years ago They did the memory test on me and gave me the form with all the questions for Medicare. They give you three words and ask you to repeat those words at end of Medicare Annual Physical. I have no problem with the three words and I write NOYB on the top of the form and sign my name. Nurse comes back and says what's this? I say. None of Your Business. She goes away and comes back. Doc says you have to fill out the form. I tell her I don't care what Doc says.

This went on for a few years and now they don't give me the form anymore.—————Ray

As a vet, I do not go to the VA. Medicare & Tricare work fine for me.

Why would my doctor want to look at your butt hole?
