Tax day

Oh the joys of filing taxes. Last year I owed about 30k and boy was that a fun check to cut. This year somehow I managed a nearly $7k refund? Last year I knew what to expect. This year I don't know what went wrong, and the standard deduction was more than my itemized???? It never is. The only thing that makes sense here is whoever is running the Biden admin has screwed things up immensely.

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche

Yep about to print and mail my extension…
Called accountant saturday and filed extension . Too much to do with my sister's illness and passing
I’m glad I’m simple in my tax preparation since I’ve been retired. But, I have always done my own taxes, call me weird but I like doing them and then compare them with tax person I use. I’ve always been pretty good at trying to keep paying or return right at zero. Anyway this year I figured $200 back but the tax lady said I was getting back $600; OK.
Standard deduction this year for single person was $15700.

Understatement of the decade.
I used to like tax season because I would get everything I paid in taxes returned to me via direct deposit. Used to. Now I make a hair more money than I previously did and that qualifies me for a new bracket wherein I only get 1/4th of the amount back.
Honestly, I probably wouldn't be this angry if I at least knew my tax money was going towards a new school or a bus or something helpful but instead it's gonna end up in some defense contractor CEO's bank account.
https://www.fairus.org/issue/publications-resources/fiscal-burden-illegal-immigration-united-states-taxpayers-2023 Defense spending of my tax dollars does not bother me as much as the cost of illegal immigration. FAIR does not even the mention the cost of in lives affected by subsequent crime and drug smuggling.
I would hate getting money back every time. I'm rather upset this year at the error (apparently on my part).

Over the last 18 months.......bank CD rates were pretty attractive. But, had to pay the piper yesterday.
Hopefully.......tax-free municipal bond rates will improve. Did well with them.…a few years ago.
With all the outgoing the incoming has to pick up. The national debt is almost 35 trillion or each 637k.

No, the outgoing spent on unnecessary bullcrap needs to slow the hell down. They don't need more money, they need fiscal responsibility.
I always told my CPA's if there's any doubt in something to throw it in the governments favor, I didn't want or need them snooping around questioning me any….at all, and they did me well. I only got audited once way back in the mid 70's when I was an just an employee (that one time didn't go so well for me 😲….😡).

Had to pay $900+. Did not know what to expect without my sweetheart Diane and Willie in Heaven. No more joint returns for me. Took all of two days for my Government to spend my return money. ——————-Ray
Waited until the last this year, as money is finally worth something.
Had an unexpectedly large capital gains, and had to write a couple of checks that hurt.
