Nice looking horse.
Tell her that!
I'm not sure that is a woman.
Dam, I thought she looked like Doris Day.
Agree, but speaking the truth can get you in trouble these days.
A lot of tough gals even in the Civil War some dressed as men to be able to fight
Looks are not everything I have been told
But we had a first something ? marred to Obama who looked just as manly
A look that is perfect for the times: rough, confident, total bad-*.

Beauty is only skin deep ……………………………… ugly goes right to the bone.
She said to the camera man when he commented on her looks……. "this ain't Dodge City and you ain't no Bill Hickok either". 😀

OK I will admit when I was much younger and my beer glasses on and closing time,
I
Sounds like the old tale of the guy that woke up one morning and instead of waking his companion sleeping on his arm, chose to chew his arm off instead. 😁
That line was used during the final gunfight in "Quigley Down Under."
Maybe its the lighting.
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Camera man forgot to turn off the "Rustic" filter on his camera.

Yes it was, I posted due to the fact it's related to the fact that Calamity Jane was Hickok's main squeeze in life, guess he didn't have much to choose from though.

Sitting on that horse she could pass for my Grand-daddy in the early 1900's , maybe some of yours too….😀

Only if she has 3 teeth.

no make up no beauty salons
just honest looks from a rough life and I for one would not want her anger focused on me. 😕
after the lights go out and you can get away before sun rise well the old sailor saying comes to mind any port in a storm
living out west where I will guess men outnumbered women especially in gold camps or early frontiers wild guess several hundred men to one woman
besides her name and legend is still around even now how many great looking gals from the time frame do you remember 😁
I've always concluded that Calamity Jane was more, to put it in modern terms, a "groupie" or probably better worded, a "stalker" with her sights set on Wild Bill Hickok.
While Hickok may have obliged some of her advances, being a married man that he was may or may not have some baring on their relationship.
It has also been historically noted that Bill Hickok was losing his vision in the years leading up to his death.
Back in the 1970's..…….pretty sure that was THE definition of "Coyote Ugly"..……....or so I've heard.😉😇
Woke up at 10 with a 2 as Willie would say .Beer goggles make everything better!
I'd have to think about it? That away!

It always kills me when I see a pack of guys tearing down some woman over her looks. This place actually had a thread about how Catherine Bach, the actress from Dukes of Hazzard, had "let herself go" ….she is SEVENTY years old. Seriously…the actress famous for her shorts is no longer "worthy" of attention because she has let herself go…..at 70.
You guys do realize this is "Calamity" Jane…she had a reputation for chaos and was famous for several things that wouldn't put her in the dainty female category, but a VERY admirable person. She is always portrayed as a kind person….a bit self destructive….but never as someone that cared what others thought about her.
I'm sure you guys tell your daughters how they need to be pretty, no matter what, because that is what really matters…..even when they turn 70….even if they are self sufficient, talented, famous women…..pretty….that is the main reason they exist and all that matters.
That said, I think if you had photographed her she'd look swell.

As my 'ol Pappy use to say, "They all look the same in the dark!".
You didn't hear that from me. I understand 100% . I can't imagine the rank of people back in the day as baths were very few and far between. It's the period folks and this generation could not handle that lifestyle.
