Replacement bricks for house
They are trying to rebuild my house and the mason ran out of bricks so he used the ones shown on top which he had handy. This is right by the front door so it really shows and is going to damage the value of the house.
Is there a place to find used bricks near Louisville, KY? I talked with another expert and was told the top ones are "queen" size larger bricks. They try to save money with laying bricks now so they went to larger bricks. Was told the masons charge by the brick now.
Can I order used bricks through any type of website?
Getting this house rebuilt is killing me both emotionally and monetarily. They want $15000 to replace the fireplace insert and get it up to current code. Anybody have an extra $15000 they want to give me.
Thanks,

Wow
No real advise
I have heard recycle /reclaim places are around for such things how to find one maybe the search mode on the internet
Good luck
, what a terrible thing to do too a customer
paint it all white……..
I agree, that brick job looks terrible. Tough deal for you.
Perhaps you could skip the insert and just have a wood stove installed, I had one installed 7 years ago for $5,500.
Why would he think that is acceptable? I would make him tear that out pronto.
The pattern is horrible. The least he could have done is match the existing pattern.
Get your insurance company involved, unless you are paying for this out of pocket. Either way, it's unacceptable.
There should ve brick suppliers in your area. Sent them a photo and ask if they could help with the proper brick. Why a mason would have done this is totally beyond reason.
The bricks are used fireplace bricks.
That's a crap job. I'm sorry you're going through this.
How would another window, or one larger window look there?? Is there somewhere on the back of the house you could use a window or patio door? And use the bricks from there?
The mason is the one that screwed up and didn't order enough bricks. This is on him to fix. I would not sign off on that.
I was just thinking about you Roy.... I'm just glad you have a house. To bad you aren't closer they will be tearing down the creamery here in Loleta soon. It's solid bricks and a lot nicer than those.
God Bless you
