A Scream, a slamming door and my Bride.......
It was a late night last night. The storm sirens went off a couple times as storms rolled through the area. I finally crashed out around 230… I got all the things finished on my list and hit the basement for a well deserved cat nap….
I was awaken by a scream and a slamming front door….. I was up the stairs in a flash (or whatever actual speed an old fart can manage..) My Bride was sputtering as I met her at the top of the stairs. She finally managed to say snake……. I headed out to look and sure enough this beauty was sunning himself on our front door jam…. When I opened the door, he headed behind the fountain and settled in there…
Grabbed a pair of gloves and picked him up and transferred him to a nice spot under a tree where he could choose between sunning himself or cover…My Bride usually does not get amped up over a snake but this one caught her off guard.
NOT the best way to wake up from a much needed nap !!!!

Looks like a first rate mouse eliminator to me!!
Hate mice, love black snakes!!
…most women are like that…one day she was doing washing in the "utility room" …I heard her holler & she came running thru the kitchen as I was running toward the scream…SNAKE!…as she ran PAST me.😁…now this is a woman who has always lived on a ranch with livestock…literally grew up on a horse, barrel raced in Rodeos all over Texas and Oklahoma, loves 3-4 day trail rides, so not a city girl at all…I let the snake go in one of the pastures, a beautiful 5' Chicken snake …women just don't like snakes…
That one of them Black Racers!
"women just don't like snakes…"
I don't either, but I let 'em live.
My girls seem to come home a couple times a week with some snake or another draped around their neck. The Black Racers are some of my favorites….although they can get a bit stinky.
I don't think I would have wanted to find that thing either

My wife is OK with snakes will even hold them if I hand one to her
Now thats Only if she is aware
if one surprise her it's a whole different game
That critter looks like it had a rough life.
Yes we have them in our area. The only thing that gets me is the speed and unpredictable movements of them.
I have no trouble with them except for copperheads . My family totally freaks out so I have to shoot and shovel or catch and relocate.
