Yep, I'd say a one-off home grown scope mount. Pretty cool if you ask me.
I agree with @Horse Plains Drifter but dang my neck would have to be a lot longer to see through that scope. Bob
I would say home made. Not the first that i seen. Best was a block of wood shaped to the barrel an receiver on the bottom, the shaped to fit the scope on top. The whole thing held to the rifle with hose clamps. Was a 1898 Krag. An believe it it shot good. Farmer brought it to show to sell as he was giving up hunting. Wish I would have taken pictures
