Painful wake-up this morning

I've had the occasional gout flareup over the past 10 years. This morning was the latest and worst so far. My big toe on my right foot has the first joint swollen and screaming at me. I got my wife's cane out and am using that to take some of the weight off the joint. It looks like I won't get much done today. Oh well, there's always next week.

This getting old ain't for sissies.
Hope the best for you and get well fast .
I had it once a few years ago i was tempted to cut my toe off thinking it would be less painfull i could not beleve how much it hurt
That does not sound like a fun day. Hope you get to feeling better soon. An old timer I knew back in Oregon had gout real bad and he swore that cherries made it feel better pretty quick. Maybe @Lady Rae can bake you a nice fat cherry pie!?
I'm not allowed to bake or cook till tomorrow.
Anyway did anyone here ever watch "Keeping up Appearances" on PBS? There was a episode where Mrs. Bouquet (Bucket) was telling everyone that her husband had gout, because gout came from High Living 😜😂🤣
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."

I've had a few episodes of gout affecting my right big toe. Never saw a doctor or had it diagnosed but took some advise from an old timer friend with lots of experience (may he RIP) who got me to drink tart cherry juice on a regular basis. I have it for breakfast every morning and haven't had any reoccurrences of that dreaded painful plight in many years since!
I've had a glass of cherry juice every morning ever since the first gout attack I had years ago. I made the mistake of eating too many life savers lately. I'm going to throw the rest away.
It usually takes a few days for it to run its course. Then I can concentrate on the next issue.

I feel your pain. Get it every once in a while. Same toe. Don't even think cutting it off would help. It probably would still hurt not being there.lolol
Today is my first day without using my wife's cane. I have about 50% less pain than yesterday. I even went out and mowed about 10 acres of grass. Maybe tomorrow I will mow the rest.

Well, that didn't last long. It's back to even more pain today.
