Got a letter from them indicating their rates for APR will go up to 34%. Since I pay in full plus the nearest dollar this won't affect me but damn. Third of a dollar is interest.

Cause: Joe Biden is President.
I think that I posted about the same high interest notification I received from my Meijer's credit card recently.
34% makes them gangsters IMO. I always pay off each month but for those struggling youngsters and or poor seniors, my heart goes out for them.
Yep, its the millennials that carry far more CC debt than all others cohort groups. Even worse, they face interest rates around 7% with a first time home purchase. Elections have consequences.
I'll somewhat agree about the struggling seniors, but the millennials I know that are struggling with debt all have the newest smart phones, think nothing of going out 2 or 3 times a week partying with their friends and take better vacations than I ever did. I do feel bad about their new home interest rates until I remember the 20+% rates of the early 80's. I got lucky and my first mortgage was only 12%. Yeah, I did without a lot of fun stuff but I paid my debts. I'll wager that you did as well. Bob
Yep Lowe's sent met a letter, new 30% APR. Had been running at 24,5%
Only thing I have on the card is a 0% 18 month on new washer and dryer.Works out to $70.00 a month no fees But I'll' get that done in a only few months.
I’ve got one credit card, had it since 1973, still says that on the card, I don’t even know what the rate is on it. It was around 1975 that I learned about interest, I was 25 years old then. Didn’t take me long to figure out who was going to come out smiling if you just payed it off at the minimum payment. Never been in debt on a card since then. I feel sorry for those that have been forced to use them out of desperation.
Shoot, why bother…….just go to the Payday/Title Loan place, or maybe to your local back alley loan shark. Couldn’t be much difference.
The only interest I've paid on anything in the last 15 years was on car loans. Bought one in 2012 and paid it off early. Bought its replacement last December, and paid that one off in five months. Both were through USAA and quite reasonable even if I hadn't paid them off early.
In the process of switching two cards from airline mileage to cash back versions. Don't fly much any more, and the annual fees cost more than occasional baggage fees. Going to no annual fee cards.
If you pay off your bills, you won't have to worry about the interest.

At that rate, you'd be better off taking your chances borrowing money from Uncle Sal down at the pool hall.
