I think I'll break out "Saving Private Ryan" and maybe "Saving Private Perez" as a parody. I would watch "Band Of Brothers" but I saw that last month.
There can't be many left now.
can't remember but do the flags go to half staff for D-day?
I don't think so, but they should.
….its a special day to remember and to thank God for all those men…Dad was a Sniper, he landed June 6-44 on Utah Beach… fought in France, Belgium & Germany…he would still wake up sometimes from nightmares 40 years later, I guess from the scars that nobody could see…Dads been gone awhile now, but I still think of him and miss him everyday…thank you Dad, love you buddy…
D-Day National Memorial in Bedford, Va.
It's awe inspiring and very reverent. We just went to the Tribute Center 4 days ago. Both are well worth the trip.

I have been to Omaha beach and the cemeteries. As a veteran it was so sad for me to think of all the young men that never had a chance at life.
I said a prayer for them when I was there and do the same every year on this day.
So many young life's lost that never had a chance at a long good life , cut short and so many carrying the physical / mental scars the rest of there life not just D day but in all the wars
It's good the country as a whole remember the scrafice so many gave
I ts sad so many do not consider all the rights they have and push to the limits what they owe to al those brave people
I’ve got a copy of the Longest Day. Haven’t watched it in a long time, might be appropriate to brake it out to night.
The movie had a lot of great actors when it was made. John Wayne being the highest payed actor in the movie, he got payed $100,000 to play that part. That was unheard of back in then.
I think I heard today that there are only 200 WW2 veterans left, that were at D Day.
longest day on TCM tonight……
Just read a sad story on the internet
A 102 year old vet on his back to visit the beach on d day
Died during the trip
I wil find and post a link
RIP Sir
we watched this last night, John Wayne was the very last name in the credits at the end
I used to deliver a speech at the VFW/ Memorial Day this was always in the back ground....
