I blame social media for how miserable one of my kids is. You can't reason with them most days, its always something weighing on them. I swear, if I could time travel I'd take that child of mine back to the 80's and see if that would help.
These days what really needs a warning label is the government.
People have gotten cruel through Social media.
"Independence Now, Independence Forever."
John Adams
What people fail to realize is social media has gained prominence by the destruction of the nuclear family unit (NFU) which has kept people together for several millennia. Bottom line: Social Media has replaced NFU.
There are a myriad of reasons for the decline of the NFU to numerous to list. Among the top reasons denigration of the NFU by the media, pop culture, academia, and DEMOCRATs.
Then we have the power & influence of the likes of Zuckerbucks and the rest of big tech.
BTW: The futility of warning labels has been proven over time, yet they persist.
Take him back to the 60's. No cell phones, no internet, BW TV. We actually sat down and talked to each other at meals.
They have worked with cigarettes, along with taxation.
When I use to smoke I can remember the warning labels on the side of the package, saying smoking may cause this or that illness. What the warning labels on the pack should have read: Warning smoking will cause excuses and lies. Only those that smoke, or are former smokers know what I mean. Warning labels for social media will not stop kids from getting on social media.
This is a political stunt, they want to be able to say to the voters; see how we care.
Does that mean he could ban Social media until a certain age?
Not sure if 'he' can, but a parent can.
Nanny state
Absolutely
Again, spot on. I love when parents say this or that has ruined my kids. Well, WHO exactly let them have the access to begin with! Parents do not parent like they used too. It seems to me that a lot of parents use social media as their own personal baby sitter. You hardly ever see kids playing outside with BOTH parents, really not even one parent nowadays. Its sad what we have let happen.
You can be awfully "heroic" behind a keyboard.
All social should be for adults ONLY. No access under 18 yrs of age
A big waste of time a lot of it is. I like media where I learn something instead of a bunch of B.
It should have a warning like "it'll toughen you up since you don't go outside and get your feeling hurt, Nancy".
There are many things the Surgeon General could do that are his business. I'm sure.
