Accidentally gave one heck of a tip to the guy at the Popeyes drive through window
I was out running errands yesterday. We had a flat tire coming back from Mississippi over the weekend and Larry almost killed himself changing the tire. So, I went yesterday morning and got new tires….while I was out I ran through the Popeyes drive through to get lunch for the crew here working on auctions.
The total was just under $40……I was on my phone arranging an upcoming errand I have to run this weekend to pick up another collection. I handed them money over…they gave me my drinks….he said "you gonna give me a tip?" JOKING…he was not being smart, just joking around. I said "sure, keep it" and he hopped up in the air with a GIANT smile on his face. I thought…that was a lot for three dollars.
I didn't realize until I got home that the "tip" was more like $60 because I had given him the $100 bill instead of whatever I thought I had handed him.
Oh well….he had a guardian angel working their magic….he must have needed a little help and it was lined up perfectly for me to be the one to do it. (That is what I'm telling myself anyway.) The guy was working….a thankless job….on a miserably HOT day in an area that is not all that friendly.
The more I think about it the better I feel about my mistake.

Well good for you, if only by accident. We ate at Wendys the other day. Damn that was a good bacon cheeseburger. I walked up to the counter and handed the gal a $10 dollar bill, made sure that 2 other gals saw it. I said "You get a tip." She looked bewildered.
Good for you guys. As someone who has worked a drive through window……………….it is thankless and dificult.
Next time when he asks for a tip, say " Save your money and buy a farm."
I was once pretty good at "multi-tasking". Doing it while paying for something now days would have me doing something similar to what Kasey did! 😯
You may have answered a prayer he had been praying.
A tip of a 150% of the price. I would chalk it up more or less you made a mistake. We all have done it. I have never tipped anyone at a drive through before. Can’t believe he asked you for a tip in the first place, I’d say that was sort of gutsy of him. It’s not like he was waiting on you at a table.
He wasn't at all serious about leaving a tip….just joking around. I had some random bills and one $100 bill….I got the money out to pay them and thought I was putting the other cash back in my phone case….but handed him the wrong folded bit of money. I was working out some travel plans and looking at my calendar while talking to a peron on the phone. It was coming through the car so it didn't look like I was on the phone. I am NOT a multi-tasker (obviously.)
My problem where I done things like that is , new bills from the bank stick together, I know I done that a couple times. At least you have an excuse: multitasking and working. Now any time I get new bills I crumple them up real good. Lol
Wow Kasey, Next time you are in the Indy area and need a few burgers, fries, or hot wings just call me & I'll deliver.
😃
Apparently they aren't really serious when the sign says no $100 bills (at least the signs say that in this area).
When you got it flaunt it! Write it off on your hobby.
We always do cash after the meal, and we go out often.
So, you accidentally "paid it forward".
If this is your worst mistake of the year, you got off easy 😉
Hopefully he didn't run down to the local Motel 6 and make a drug purchase, they still leave the light on for people that do that.

I was at the Wendy's drive through in Asheville last year. When I got to the window the gal said "Fugettaboutit. The lady ahead of you paid your bill."
What? It was $9.45
I looked ahead, it was a black lady in a nice new SUV, she pulled off heading south onto Tunnel Road and I didn't see her again.
If you will not lose sleep over the extra, you will be fine. Perhaps it will help out this guy at a time that he really needs it.
Ole Popeye is smiling down upon you Kasey!
😁
I took this pic of this guy panhandling in Asheville.
Too funny
