Sanity check: undisclosed damage to gunbroker item - who pays return shipping?

I purchased a G3 kit here and found that the barrel trunnion had been drilled out halfway through the barrel pin hole, rendering it not usable in my opinion, and significantly damaged at the least. The issue is that this was not disclosed in the listing. The trunnion damage was not mentioned and no pictures showed the damage.
The seller wants me to ship the damaged trunnion back at my expense and he will replace it. He made it sound like he was doing me a big favor by making this offer.
As someone who sells things online often, I would never expect a buyer to ship something back to me at their expense if I failed to disclose damage. Am I being unreasonable expecting the seller to make it right without additional expense to me?
