And BANG, the electricity went out !!!!!!!!!
The last hour or so have been real interesting… I was out in the yard mowing away and BANG, it sounded like someone shot a gun. I was pretty sure it was the transformer located about 75 feet from where I was. About that time, my Bride came outside and said what was that BANG… The electricity went out….
I figured it was going to be a night in the dark, no water etc…….. I called the Electric CO-OP figuring they would tell me see you in the morning. To my surprise, they said someone would be there within the hour to check out the issue. Twenty minutes later, a truck was across the road checking the line to our place. One workman was down there and the other came up to look over our transformer and box.
Turned out to be a blown fuse at the junction down by the road…. The workman at our pole looked around saying he figured there was a fried squirrel or bird, but nothing. Maybe Martha ran off with it……
So the evening turned out better than I thought…… And my Bride took over the mowing so I am inside. I checked out all the electrical systems to make sure no issues inside so as of now all is Good…. I am thankful it was not anything that was not easily fixable !!

Glad the outage was taken care of so quickly.
…and you still have water? It didn't take out the new pressure switch?
Fried squirrel, one of my faves. Martha, you go girl!
That was the first thing I tested !!!!! I am happy to report it is fine !!!!
Oh good, good
Will........
If the pole-mounted "smoothie" transformer has a single vertically mounted fuse....…..you can actually spot the blown fuse(s). When it fails..…the fuse body will hang down from it's lower mount, and is easily seen (especially with my binoculars......from my house.....in a rain storm....while talking to the power company on the phone😉).
Disclosure:........In 1985, our house was the second one built on our cul-de-sac. It's full now.....with 11 houses. As houses were added, nuisance transformer fuse failures began. After about the eighth time..…I convinced TU Electric to upsize the transformer..............success!!
Thank you I will check that out…..
We lose power about once a month here. That's why I bought a whole-house generator. It works great.

I have been researching those again lately…..
Our local REC coop has service men 'on call' weekends and holidays for just such occurrences.
Typically one hour or less.
