Almost passed out @ Walmart today

Went to my local Walmart (Franklin, NC), today to pick up some more corn as I feed the deer daily. As usual while in the sporting goods area I look to see what ammo they have. It has been around 4 years since I have seen .410 shells on their shelves, but low & behold today they had a shelf full of Winchester AA #8 & #9shot. Limit was two per customer. I guess the hoarders & resellers have overstocked. I bought the two boxes @ $16, each.

The prices make me pass out
They had 4 boxes at 17.95 at the walmart close to me. 🤐
Prices are definitely high…. If you can find it. I finally just ordered it bulk to feed my Henry. Nobel Sport Italia…..$149 shipped for 250 rds. Still pricey, but not AS bad.
My stash.
$16/box isn't bad. I remember paying $15/box 20 years ago locally.
My Lee loader works just fine With components I bought years ago when prices were reasonable.
I saw something at Walmart a few days ago that made me gag but not pass out.🙃
I went thru Wally World today. They had 28ga but no 16 or 410.
@Mobuck We don't need or want to see what made you gag.
There was also quite a bit of 16ga, (@ my store), I have been seeing it sporadically for several months.
I think I saw her too.😉
Something about Walmart attracts them. You really want to see strange go about 2 or 3 am if your wallyworld is still 24 hour
I finally have a stash of 10 boxes of 3" 410 shells, found at Walmart over the past two years. Every time I go there I check the ammo shelf for .410, but lately they have 2 1/2" shells for 17.95 a box, but pass on it and wait for the 3" to show up at 18.95 a box. The other stores like Cabela's and Fleet Farm just never have it in stock.
I chronographed a bunch of 2.5 and 3 inch shells and the 2.5 inch were always faster, sometimes by 250 fps!
I remember when Dad would buy me 12 gauge shotgun shells 3 or 4 at a time when going to town on Saturday. Grocery and feed stores had boxes of shells on a shelf with price per shell wrote on the box.
(usually high brass 6's or 7 1/2's and couple of 00 Buck) The 00 Buck was for use on Deer that dogs were chasing.
I used a old Marlin hammer type pump shotgun, full choke long barrel (and maybe get a box of 22 shorts for squirrel hunting) Make every shot count and try to get more than one with one shot, if we seen an animal that was good to eat season was open.
I did not know a hunting lic or BUCKS ONLY deer tag was required until Dad bought first Deer rifle, a 35 caliber Remington Model 141 pump, really accurate gun. Probably around 20 before I bought first hunting lic and never did buy a fishin lic. Finally got lic checked by a Possum cop when I was about 25 and I had a un -used Deer tag opening day of deer season and was actually wearing a red shirt and cap. (I got lucky)The old Warden was wearing a green suit and hat was driving a Green car with the trunk lid removed. (that was his pickup truck/car)
I could shoot that pump faster than an automatic and deadly on running animals.
Good old days.
I found some #7.5 shot 3 inch shells yesterday at a store near me. Even though I have quite a few stashed I bought a couple box’s, may go back and buy more. $20 a box.
I know they will be manufacturing more but I believe in, one in the hand is better than two in the bush. Lol
