Odd how murderous lunatics open fire at places that don't allow guns. it's almost as if gun control laws and signage have no effect.
If the media had a shred of integrity, they'd be supporting the cause to punish criminals and finding ways to support those that have to live with the tragedy. But, that doesn't drive clicks and therefore doesn't fit with the profit at all costs agenda.

All these shootings are so sad. IMHO decline & disparagement of the nuclear family and subsequent counterculture movement creates these sociopaths.
Too make matters worse these tragedies are used politically to blame guns rather than moral decay of humankind. Joe Biden is already on the news saying we need more gun control rather than offering any real solutions.

Government should not have to intervene in these cases. It seems pops know that his little boy was a potential danger and he should have handled this himself. We are responsible for how our firearms are used absent illegal access. The family did nothing and because of that, the legal system will be brought to bear. A troubled person in the household needs to be controlled in a manner consistent with their troubles.

I agree, but will add one more thing. I think the lack of religion also has some to do with it. Going to church or whatever service each week, you hear right from wrong and you would learn what it meant.
Not that religion is always the answer because I have had many dealings with folks that are not in church every Sunday but would give you the shirt off their backs.
From the picture they just released, looks like he has mental problems(I KNOW he does by his actions, but it is apparent to me just by the pic). Appears to be another confused boy, confused by todays "you can be any gender you want" ideology.
Father charged with murder and other charges. I don't know how I feel about that. On one hand, it may send a signal to parents to be engaged with their children before it's too late. On the other hand, it reeks of police state tactics.
I'd bet you wouldn't have to look back too far in the Chicago police blotter to find where a 14 year old gang member shot two people.
Murder seems to be a stretch. That said, if you gave a drunk keys to your car and he killed someone, one would consider accessory to murder.

I think it's based more on being responsible for his juvenile, 14 yr old, child, and child having access or ownership of the gun.

AND the father was aware of his son's threat to shoot up the school last year! Now they both denied those allegations, but he knew full well that his son was not right in the head.
The charges against the father make a little more sense in this case, because he KNEW his kid was unstable and had already made threats. Now if the kid drilled into a locked safe, or cut a lock to get the firearm, then the man should be not guilty. If he left his UNSTABLE kid with free access, then I believe he bears some responsibility too. JMHO
I heard on another forum that Dad bought this kid the AR 15 for Christmas.… They must know those other stupid parents from Michigan that bought there mentally ill child a handgun for Christmas 🤬

My kids(when they were teenagers) and grandkids all 'own' (in theory) guns and generally 'have access' to firearms 24/7. One Grandson less so as he's a 'town dweller' but still at least limited access.
At no point did this access encourage them to go to school and shoot others. It's a problem partially due to the 'disconnect' of parents and children. Grouch Attack watches some of the 'home improvement' shows and one of my pet peeves is the idea of having 'parents' retreat or parental suite areas of the home. 😒

If he admits he done it there is no need for a trial. Throw him in with the wolves and when he gets his asp kicked in while in prison report that on the news. Send a message that this is what awaits you for the rest of your life if you were to commit and act like that.
I have NO sympathy for people that commit acts like this, regardless of their age or family history of neglect and abuse. Your inter conscience should tell you that it is WRONG. I can’t imagine the pain that was brought upon these families by this individual senseless act.
