Does this look right? Shouldn't it be turned down flush or just below? With a plastic hook I can feel a "void" at the back of the choke tube. Would this void have caused a hangup and a bulged barrel about an inch behind the choke? Mossberg 20ga 2-3/4" #4 steel shot. TIA for any input.

It 'should be' just flush. I'd remove it and do a good cleaning of the threads.
I think there is a special grease for choke tubes. Good idea to use a dab of that after cleaning the threads. Even the old Cutts tubes were reluctant to come out. (Don't ask me how I know!)
100% not right- Yes it would create issues. Should be just dirt IN THE THREADS but wouldn't shoot it like that- YMMV.
Thanks guys. The barrel is bulged about 2-1/2" from the muzzle, so I'll check the auction side for a barrel.
Good move. I would not use the barrel any more. How long is the barrel? Can it be cut down and still legal length?
Yep, it can be cut back as it's 26" long
thats what id do. 20 ga with short barrel, excellent home defense, IMO
That barrel has been pounded on because the choke was stuck.
Don't shoot it. Look for a replacement and make sure any choke tubes used are rated for steel shot if that's what you're using.
Looks like the barrel has been cut and threaded for a choke. The end of the rib should be flush. IMO
