the buyer is using usps money order, and it says taxes will be calculated at shipping, but if I don’t ship it until I receive the money order how does that work? Doesn’t he have to pay sales tax? Am I suppose to create shipment under view order before he sends the money order?

”View order” will have the TOTAL buyer needs to pay at bottom of page . GB will have that correct.
I pretty sure it means taxes will be calculated at the final auction price. The buyer will purchase a money order for the amount of the selling price, plus sales tax, plus any shipping fees that you listed in your auction. You retain possession of item until a money order arrives in the correct amount, then you ship item. But yes, I'm sure you do the create a shipment process, which will calculate sales tax based on the ship to address. That stuff is all new since I have sold on GB, so I'm not really sure how some of it works.
so I don’t have to create a shipment until after I get the money, then how does sales tax work do i have to pay it?
ok I was confused because for me when I view order details it says total payable this amount but tax says $0
Maybe the buyer lives in a state with no sales tax. Some states do not have sales tax.
it’s going to Oregon and apparently they don’t have sales tax so I guess that will stay at $0 then
They have to put in their FFL info at the checkout on the buyer's end of the transaction….this give GB the tax rate.
You will need to confirm the amount they sent matches the invoice….I would go ahead and send over a copy of the invoice to them, you can pull it up and copy it like you do any text and email it to them.
When you mark the transaction complete the taxes will show up on your GB billing section, so you are the one that pays the taxes, but it is charged to the buyer on their invoice (along with a 1% processing fee that GB adds.)
These are the states with no sales tax…..
ok, it is going to Oregon, and the invoice also says $0 in taxes, so if they send the money order and just pay the current amount, since it says taxes will be calculated at shipping, will I have to pay sales tax?
Oregon has no sales tax…but if it were going to Texas, Alabama, Florida or anywhere else that has sales tax it would show on your account and you would have to pay it.

ok thanks, so neither me or the buyer will have to pay sales tax
Not on this one….but keep in mind if you sell to most places the tax is charged to the buyer, but its paid by you.
Glad LF weighted in on this. She's got this hobby down to a science!
Casey.
Does the sales tax collected by you go to your state revenue collector or do you send it to the buyers state tax collector?
I pay Gun Broker….they send it to the various places, which is why the are adding the 1% charge. I think they farmed that service out to another outfit to deal with (I could be wrong.) I do know they are not allowed to deposit the funds that they collect for sales tax into their bank account and pay once a month like normal businesses are allowed to do. Being a "marketplace facilitator" is a huge pain with crazy rules. Collecting all of this sales tax and paying where it goes immediately is a LOT of work.
Make sure to the invoice shows the shipping charge. If you put it in the text but not in the actual shipping fee section, it won't automatically add it in that case.
