I hear the Ashville area is getting hammered. How much rain have you got?

Likely a miss post in the wrong forum…..
I am 25 miles nw of Asheville. We are going to get 5 inches of rain tonight plus 40 to 50 mph winds. I got a fresh gallon of chain saw gas today, no ethanol.
Stay safe
Griggs, did you get milk, bread, and TP?
Major needs during any bad weather event.
Looks like we are going to get hammered. Power out over many areas and roads closed here.
County fathers declared a state of emergency and declared a curfew from 8 pm last night until 8 am today.
OOPs, update. Power just went off but the 30KW Kohler never skipped a beat, it is set up for a 4 second delay. Wife's anniversary gift last year. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Update.
According to local media and forecasters this event may just be the worst in many years
Radar and predictions may have nailed this one for us.
WNC is right dead center of Helene path.
Butch, he's a country boy. He's got beer, fried chicken and corn cobs aplenty.
Yep, he also has a toilet in the river for a good clean flush.
11 am Friday- just lost my Bradford Pear tree.
Bummer, stay safe all you folks in the path.
it can be repurposed to keep you warm this winter…..
That's the plan. A lot of firewood in that tree.
My town, Marshall, is destroyed. Computer barely works. Pics will follow. My house is OK.
Sending prayers for you all ❤️🙏

The New River starts out in western North Carolina and flows north through here. The weather service was saying we would get 2-4 inches of rain. No problem, right? The river was way down because of this summers drought. We could use 2-4inches.
I didn't think to check WNC weather. We got an alert Friday afternoon that there would be flooding. By then, the wind was blowing 45mph and it was raining heavily. Folks with property along the river didn't have time to get stuff out.
The area where my daughter's place is, there's folks who own places but they live a distance away. Some are up in years.
