Fished a new pond last night......
I have some of the best neighbors in the World. They let me hunt on their properties and allow me to fish in their various ponds. Last night a neighbor mentioned there is a small pond on the back of one of their properties that is seldom fished and told me to go check it out !!!
Drove out to the back area of the property and there it was…. a two or so acre pond 90% of which was surrounded by cattails. I worked my way around where there were openings and tossed jigs and small spinnerbaits where I could… I caught 16 bass in about an hour. Nothing huge, but all were in the 12-16" range. I need to get out there in the near future with my Kayak and cruise all around those cattails !!!
Fall fishing is great, I look forward to this time of the year not only for hunting but for some great fishing….
Anyone else wetting a line lately ??

Hope to get out tomorrow if things work out. Waiting for the roofing guy to meet with us to settle details.
Yer killin' me Will............just killin' me........🤯🤠
Sounds like a great neighbor!
Wetting lines? Yeah, a few! Here's a little lake trout my dad caught when he was up visiting last week. It's only a 26 incher.
Way to go!!
That pond needs them caught. Seems overstocked and stunting growth. Those are nice size eating fish for sure.😊
If only we had water...😢
I assume they do not have a lot of ponds where you are He Dog !!!
Nice looking bass. Congats on catching all those fish.
As goes their heat, "it's a dry heat", so are their ponds. They are dry ponds.
Congrats on the catch and having great friends and neighbors
My younger brother RIP loved to fish almost as much as drinking beer LOL
short story he talked his way into a having use of a very old farm pond not very big pond
But Wow the bass were amazing he was catching he realed just about all.of them
But being a fisherman and drinker he wouldn't keep his mouth shut soon his " buddies" started trespassing on the old guys property to fish also with out asking and leaving gates open and to much traffic .
Needless to say the farmer just had to say no one is allowed in and i will report anyone caught so stay out
It was a great honey hole for bass and my brother while it lasted but bragging and drinking aka loose lips. got him kicked out
Even the largest lake in the state, Elephant Butte is down 100 feet from it's 1960's level. Most of the Northern lakes are down as well. Ponds are scarce to non-existent, the nearest thing being "stock tanks" here, under 1 acre. Wind mills are still used at metal stock tanks, because the nearest electricity is miles away. I did see a trout a time or two in mountain streams.
