Got Me a Brand New Squirrel.

Just finished hauling yard debris since 6am. Probably put at least 5 truck-loads worth out on the road. Hopefully, they’ll come through with the giant claw trucks soon. Anyhow, as we raked up the piles of moss, we found two dead baby squirrels. Looked like they blew out of the nest and then drowned in the river that was flowing through our yard. My girls were pretty down about it. Then, all of a sudden I moved some leaves and a live one jumped out. We’ve got him in a hamster cage, and he’s enjoying some water-soaked walnuts. Hopefully, he’ll do well. We’ve raised one before, and had a blast with it. Girls have named him “Milton.”

Cloud / silver lining. Well done.
You are a good deed doer.
Now you need a tree!
Milton's a lucky little bugger.
Yes he is! Good on the Frogdog family to take him in.
Careful! Your MILTON could turn out to be a monster!
😁
An oak tree went down when I was a kid and killed Mrs. Squirrel. We rescued 2 babies, we fed them infant formula from a baby bottle. They grew up, we named them Frisky and Friendly. My mom had home movies of me, age 11 sitting at the table, Frisky sitting on my shoulder as I fed him scrambled eggs. The little guys loved scrambled eggs.
We had a cage for the little guys, and in about 4 months they were pretty big, we turned them loose and they lived in the trees, and they would climb on the porch and we'd feed them by hand. They hung around for several years.
Yep….and he probably will. Once they get to breeding age, they tend to get a bit ornery. Until then, though, they’re pretty fun!
^^^^Maybe not if you neuter him. 🐿️
Good for you and the girls.
Growing up in Florida allowed me to have a bunch of cool "pets", I've had raccoons, squirrels, hawks, ospreys, rabbits, a variety of birds and once after a storm, we even found someone's pet monkey.
Raccoons were the most fun but they are also the most destructive (mostly because they have hands) and can get into or out of most anything ........ and they do.
Neuter him? A squirrel with no nuts?
make sure you give it something to gnaw on to keep their teeth in check or they will find something to gnaw on.
We have a china cabinet that the base will prove this. 🤨😆
…don't let him get loose in church,,
You really need to get him a moose to keep him company.
On the other hand, don't let him get mad at you. They'll turn on you in a minute.

bet the squirrel would eat the chestnuts with maggots in them
Was there something wrong with the old squirrel that made you get a new one? Was the old squirrel broken and out of warranty? What caliber is the new squirrel?

Yep, the old one (Buttercup) grew up on us. We eased her to outside living slowly, and I built her a little house on the side of the giant oak tree we had by our deck. She would come down and visit my wife every morning without fail. And best of all, she eventually had a litter of babies herself, and would bring them down with her. That was a good time. Unfortunately, we got new orders and had to move on without Buttercup.
I hope this new guy does okay and can have a similarly happy outcome.
I was on M1A forum and there was a thing about a guy who "trained" one to be a attack squirrel addicted to meth. Let me see if I can find it. Linked a video aout it.

This one hangs around the yard. I see her on the porch a few times a day getting a drink out of the bird bath….. Squirrels are fun to watch.
I second that! Hallelujah! Bob
