We have a Mountain Lion!

At our ranch in Arivaca, AZ, we have been staying in our RV while we are rebuilding a house we bought.
The wife wanted some game cams, so we got them and put them out.
And to our surprise, we have a mountain lion, less than 400' from the rv!
And it has no tail! So of course, it will be named "Stumpy"
We had NO idea they were so close!
It certainly explains why our German Shepherds lose their minds sometimes!

WOW……. wonder what happened to it's tail. Any other critters wondering nearby ?? Be safe when you are out and about !!!
Thanks for sharing the game camera pics !!!
Make sure to leave a bowl of milk for kitty
That is the largest Bob Cat I've ever seen
He'd look good stuffed
I saw "one" there in Wisc. one time maybe 10 years ago in mid-winter!
How do you know his name is Bob?
He identifies as a Bobcat.
Magnum bobcat!
That ain't no bobcat.
Mountain lion for sure.
Robert cats have pointed ear hair and smaller heads
I agree definitely not a bobcat
Not really "new" as I've owned property in Arivaca for 20+ years.
Yes, there is a ton of deer near me! I see deer on a daily basis.
I was talking to a hunter last Sunday, and he was lamenting "I never see any deer here". Of course, he was riding around on a quad, making a ton of noise.
So he left, and literally 2 minutes later, I see two deer come out of the brush not 100' from where we were talking!
:D
Yes, tons of wildlife. I'm going to post some of it soon.

Cooked properly, they taste very similar to Canadian bacon.
I was joking calling it a Bob Cat. Only thing Bobbed is its tail. Bobcats in SC grow to about 30-35# and are actually like an overgrown super large house cat with pointed ears and bob tails. Shot a few out deer hunting. They however can kill 10x their weight. That is for sure a mountain lion .
Great pics. I hear they make great pets.
Just for reference, here is a pic of bobcat from the same area, about 100' from where the lion was:

Awesome long as it does not get to hungry and ambush someone or your pets
I think Forge monkey has posted several photos in the past of such critters but they had holes in them
I think its Neat having such neighbors
But glad there not my neighbors sure as the sun shines my wife would want to some how befriend it .
Well ya might just hafta go cougar huntin………
I would prefer the two legged cougar.
That's awesome, Merc! Cats are some of my favorite critters. Thanks for sharing and take care of it.
Here’s one on my wall. His cattle killing days have ended.
Joe,
Neat! I didn't know I had badgers! We don't need no stinkin' badgers!

😉😉
They are a delicacy, so are bobcat. Leave the coyotes where they fall….
I seen what was it "Mountain Men"? That had old dude cooking up a cat? Maybe it was another show? Anyhow I always thought they'd taste or have a funk about them like cat pee. Now if they truly taste like Canadian Bacon they will be classified endangered if I ever get a hold of one.
Maybe that's how that cat lost part of it's tail. A taste test?
Our state of MIchigan's DNR likes to deny sightings of mountain lions around here. Both my wife and one son have actually seen one on our property.
If that cat in the picture was from Michigan, the tail would have been bobbed by the DNR so they could continue with their denials!
We have a big Puma that goes through our place. I've seen him once 😬😳 where the deer are the cats will be.

We live in a townhome complex on a golf
course south of the river from Mpls. Private drive thru complex and nightly for 25 yrs here have coyote, huge turkey, deer, multiple kill sites from coyote's. One of our small dogs got a snake bite 2 feet from our door-ok except for infection. Wildlife is everywhere and adapts to anything.Dogs are always in a coyote vest with under neck spikes, long plastic spikes on the back th protect from large hawks, etc. Neighbor had a dog on tie-out and a large bird tried to grab it-terrible talon wounds but still here. Every year when DNR cleans out eagle nests there are pet tags.Blessings to all.
I saw those spike vest introduced on the TV show shark tank. Thought they are pretty good idea.
