POWDER!!! I'm all set up ready to roll but I'm missing one key ingredient. There is a gun show about 45 mins away this weekend. Hopefully I get lucky. I'm starting with 38/357. Was looking for Unique but may have to look for an alternative.

Hi Score 800
Any of them will get you going...
I load some pretty warm stuff for my S&W model 27, using 231. I use them for our clubs 100 yard hand gun event.

Ray, I had heard that, but had no means to verify so all I could depend on was the load tables that show them to be alike. Thanks for the update.

HP-38 is a good substitute for 231.
According to Hodgdon, HP38 IS W231. Same as H110=W296; H414=W760; HS6=W540; HS7=W571 & H450=W785.
The local shops have a little powder but don't really care to sell it. A month ago, Tom and I went in a local gun shop and the counter guy refused to sell 2# to Tom and 2# to me(so he didn't sell ANY). A week later, Tom found powder ON SALE at a big name chain store and bought a total of almost $1400 of powder for about $850.
I like Unique. I will say it's really not the "best" for anything, but it is good for so many things it's almost indespensible for me.
