.222 Remington Brass

AmbroseAmbrose Member Posts: 3,164 ✭✭✭✭
FWIW: Starline is now making these cases. I have rifles in this chambering so I bought 500. I haven't had the chance to fire any yet but it looks like good stuff. One thing though--it's a bit heavier.

Federal--91.3 gr.
Remington--88.0 gr.
Winchester--91.7 gr.
Starline--93.1 gr.

Does the brass seem thick? Or do you think its just a more dense alloy?

The alloy for cartridge brass is pretty much fixed, that is, it can't vary much. So the brass must be thicker to be heavier but, as you can see from the weights, there is not much difference between Starline and Winchester or Federal. The way to be sure is to check the water capacity of the cases and maybe I'll do that.

.222 brass is hard to find so I'm delighted that Starline is filling in the gap.
