I've always wondered how one accomplishes the crimp on one of the old shot shell hand loading tools. If clamped to a bench it appears one would have to lay the shell on its side to apply the roll crimp. Unless you have a tightly fitting card over the shot I foresee a bit of a spilling problem. Am I missing something?

An overshot card that fits properly prevents spilling.
Myself, I'm lazy and prefer this method.

I'd much rather load my old AA and Uplands with one piece wads and the 8 or 6 point folded crimp. Fooling with nitro cards and felt wads doesn't produce any better patterns and it takes more power for the same velocity.
