I have what I think is a Japanese sword and can't seem to find anything about it. It looks old, and I've had the handle off of it but no writing. I will attach a few pics to see if this helps. Thanks!

The fake hamon and not silk wrap are a dead givaway.
The person who made my swords can be found at www.bandkcustomfirearms.com. If you will send this e-mail to him - I will allow him to let you see my creation origami for the two sword set he made for me. Be aware that such swords are not cheep - you will have to get up off your wallet.

When facing multiple bad guys - first take out the one that is the one that is the most dangerous - that's the one with the shotgun!

The website link has expired and is no longer available.
I got 2 old swords from an estate about 10 years ago. I shipped them to him and he evaluated them to later 1400's and late 1500's. Both signed.
Price was reasonable.

It looks to be a Chinese copy. Etched hamon, the handle wrap is not silk. The tang is poorly finished. Sorry but it is not a valuable Japanese ancestral sword.
No, it's made in Japan, not China. I walked past a shop in Kawasaki where they were being made. The sam? is pure white and the quality of the wrap is authentic. The potmetal fittings are filled out well and the colour is consistant.
Lots of little telltale signs, even in the scabbard.
