Question from a neophyte.
In Texas, what restrictions exist from the Federal government towards owining guns of any kind?
Next, the same question at the State level.

- No machine guns manufactured after 1986
- No machine guns manufactured prior to 1986 without a tax stamp
- No short-barreled rifles (barrel length less than 16") without a tax stamp
- No short-barreled shotguns (barrel length under 18") without a tax stamp
- No "destructive devices" or machine guns without a tax stamp
- No foreign-made "assault weapons"
This is probably not a comprehensive list, but it's what I could think up on short notice. I'm sure others will fill in any gaps I've left.
I do not think Texas restricts anything beyond what federal law does.
Texas regulations on carry and storage are found in Chapter 46 of the Penal Code, available online.
Interstate transfers must meet the requirements of both federal & state laws.
States may enact more restrictive gun laws than the federal government, but not less restrictive gun laws.
