Boiled linseed oil

Hi; I'm refinishing my model 70 wood stock and have a ???. I have 4 or 5 coats of Tru-oil on the wood now, and was wondering if it will take boiled linseed oil now. It is coming out really nice, and having used linseed oil in the service in 58, wanted to get the same sheen I used to get back then. Thanks, Mike

I'm not a Tru-Oil fan.. Just a glossy varnish, as far as I'm concerned.. You can wet sand the finish you now have with BLO.. Rub in a few more coats, and you should have a much more mellow sheen..
As Hangfire says, Tru-oil is lots shinier-- however linseed oil is one of it's ingredients so applying plain boiled linseed over it should pose no problemo.

Goes on easy after a light steel wool or 400 grit sanding.
