A friend of mine was telling me about an old Remington bolt action rifle in 44 Mag but is missing the bolt. Said that it has been about 35 years since he shot it last. Any idea what model number(s) it could have been? The auction side has a mdl 700 varmint in the caliber.

A 700 Varmint in .44 Mag?
Anyone have the link to that one?
"Just curious. How does one go about losing the bolt to their rifle?"............some people mistakenly believe that storeing the bolt in a different place than the rifle is 'safer'= lost bolts. as to the bolt for a Rem. 788 in .44 mag the bolt from a .30/30 will not work, the action of the .44 is shorter.
My friends late father did this. Before selling the house, his sisters removed the guns but didn't know to look for the bolt.

It doesn't exist. On the auction side for a 700 Varmint that has "44" in the title. However, it is not chambered in 44 anything.
