Get an itch to play with R/C helicopters?
Dont do it!
Start off with a simple $275 Heli, radio included. E-Flite CP Pro
Buy a extra set of rotor & tail blades $27
Buy the software to learn to fly it on the computer $200
Then read on the software box - AMD AthlonII 2.8ghz & 2gig of memory is required!
Freakn computer upgrade if I do it myself. mama board , cpu, and ddr2 ram $700.
Something is wrong here.
Within the first 30 minutes already broke a rotor blade.
Guns are cheap compared to this $ trap.
Agggggh..

Bought a "ready to fly" electric a year ago. Ended up spending what I paid for it on replacement parts from crashing. There are much better wastes of money out there.

I used to race RC cars and was normally a top three finisher in the area competitions. I spent some bucks! Money = speed, full size or scale.
I got some .035x36" carbon fiber rod "training wheels" for mine. It's in the form of a cross that attaches to the landing gear. it helps when your a just few feet of the ground.
I also had a Heli pro adjust the gyro board for me. That was a big help!

Had it now since June.
Went through 3 blades and 2 flybars since June.
I can just about do anything with it.
Its more fun than a barrel of monkeys, and easy to fly.
Wanted to move up to a single blade with a tail rotor.
Right off to bat, with the quicker rotorhead, whacked the couch, down one $13.00 cheapo rotor blade.
Still have 5 or 6 60-120 size planes in the attic, aint flow them in 10 years.
fact that I've always heard they're extremely hard to fly has
kept me from getting one.
Looked at one a few years back on fleabay that someone was selling. It
was a really neat one that had a camera mounted on it, and the seller
said it had a three mile operating range, and was set up to run from
your pc.
He was selling it because he'd gotten into RC jets, which he said
had a 10mi. operating range, and he ran from his pc also.
It was a younger guy was in NM., and sounded like he had a blast with
these..doing some things that I'm sure are illegal.[:D][:D]

I have the training wheels for mine too. It helps. [;)]

I've got an r/c girlfriend. All I have to do is press a button and she shuts right up. You won't believe what she can do with a joystick.
Inflatable..?[;)]

Or he stuck on an electric dog collar on her.... [:D]
Nice website, I like some of the TOMY stuff, direct from hong kong.
Now about remote control Guns, here's a pic from E3.
So, question, do they make r/c helicopters in Chinook form?

Do a google search. It has been a couple years let me thing- I forget the company Hirobo? which is making a CH-46 Sea Night. It is not traditional in that is has 2 blade rotors and only one engine but comes ready to fly.
There is a group in the Netherlands building a larger scale Chinook. I belong to the forum where there is a couple different groups building their own. I haven't been there in a couple years I will look for the URL.
There are also a couple rc Chinook videos floating around the internet. The first video has a great pilot.

This one is a 1:7.5 scale. It is pretty damn big. Their website is down but a year ago it was getting close to flying. Here is a link where you can see a few pics of it. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=338964

I've jumped out of a few of those[:D]
I was in the bay area and saw a group of guys flying the RC helicopters, and they were good ! Talked to one guy that had his flying all kinds of positions and he said that "this one is my fourth RC Helio, I crashed and burned the others learning how to fly them!"
As much as they cost, that's an expensive hobby.
I knew another guy that bought one of those "kit" helicopters; think it was a Scorpion or something like that. He is a really good street rod builder, and applied his talents to the helio kit. It turned out looking really good, and sounded good too.
He was trying to learn how to fly it, he was in it and had the thing tied to the ground on 2 foot chains at all 4 corners, trying to learn how to hover. He dropped it so many times that he had to rebuild the sled, finally sold it and went back to building street rods.
They cost way more than that; add in the increased buying power [is a buck really worth more [?] ] and you would feel downright depressed.
