Re: 250,000
My 2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer V-8 turned over 230,000 yesterday. I haven't had much to put into its daily operation other than a front disc brake job, a starter, and various wiring issues. lubrication is done every 3000, tire rotation every 10,000. exhaust system after the cat converter is needed sometime in the future, maybe. i just don't drive that much anymore
Re: My apologies to Jimdeere and a link to a VERY NICE FN 509...check it out!
Typo in the listing Kasey, 503 on gun, yet it says 509 several places in the listing…
Concert ticket nightmare that has turned out to be quite the adventure!
I posted about the Birmingham Zoo silent auction, so you guys know I bid on some things they had up for grabs. Everything that "I" wanted I lost….the BBQ gift set from Full Moon…..the gift certificate from The Pants Store…..the various Bourbon selections…..but what I did win was….
TWO VIP TICKETS TO NICKI MINAJ
Ok…..before you go nuts…..no, these were NOT for myself. My nephew wanted them. He is 18 and hasn't been to a concert before. He is a good kid, so I put in a bid.
Don't you know, not one more bid was placed. How lucky am I? 😂
Anyway, the auction closed and the concert was the following day. They didn't answer the phone, so I started shooting off emails to every address I could find. No luck. Finally I called Legacy Arena and talked to some sweet lady that said I could probably just pick up the tickets at the ticket office…but not a definate answer.
I got an email back from Legacy saying they didn't have any record of tickets for me. So, I told my sister that I didn't know if the concert was going to happen or not, but I was doing all I could. I sent a copy of the paid invoice to the arena people, someone there said they would get my nephew "IN" but it was just going to be random tickets and not the VIP thing.
So, he got to go…..he loved it. I got a video of some guy singing…who the heck knows who? I feel so old by now.
Finally….Monday comes along and I start getting messages from the Zoo. They feel horrible, they apologize and want to make things up to us by arranging a behind the scenes experience for us. I am STOKED. My sister doesn't get out and do much, she's a bit of a recluse and very reserved (the total opposite of me.) So, I told the Zoo people I'd like this to be for my nephew and his mother. They are getting together on that themselves.
The Legacy Arena reached out to me and said they would like to offer us four tickets to any upcoming event to make up for the confusion….even though it had nothing to do with them.
I swear, this has been a roller coaster for sure.
I can't be happier with how both venues have handled this though.
My apologies to Jimdeere and a link to a VERY NICE FN 509...check it out!
On one of my trips I picked this up, and I couldn't match it up to any of the customers I picked up from. So, I sat it on a shelf and I thought I had sent out feelers to see if I could sort out who it belonged to. I somehow missed sending an inquiry to Jim on this and it has been sitting for quite a while. So, I dropped the ball on this item and it is just now going up. Its a really NICE FN USA 509 with the factory box, zipper case and two mags. Its in LIKE NEW condition…..a fantastic 9mm for anyone looking for a good carry gun.
Going up tonight!

Re: my father is Fideau
I am so sorry…..there are no words that fit, I lost both parents relatively close to each other and each time I was in a fog. I know you have so much going through your head, memories and "I wish I had done". Its part of the whole process. Keep in mind he was well liked here, we have a large membership…but the regulars are a smaller group that we all think of as real friends. He was a good friend for sure.
I hope you stay around and become one of our group.
Re: 250,000
Let's see. My '94 Caprice is showing 350K on this odo. The pervious one crapped out and it had 25K or 30K more (I have the exact number somewhere). I figure she's headed to 400K on untouched tranny (just add a little fluid when it starts acting up) since 113K when I got her back in 2002. Here's hoping for 500K miles.
All Hail The 1994 5.7Lt. LT1.
Re: What are you up to today ???
I am building a custom cowling on a Cessna 185 for a client. We are replacing the piston engine with a turbine engine. I built the engine mount a few months ago and now the cowling. I really didn’t want to but I have known and worked for Tom for nearly 50 years. He talked me into it so here we go. It will be quite a challenge and I hope I live long enough to finish it.

Now that's cool, @Gunnut358
Do a post with more pictures, updates please.
Re: What are you up to today ???
Reassembling a small block Chevy for an old friend of mine, that's going in a '32 Ford Tudor. Swapped out the Holleys for a dual-quad FiTech injection setup. The blower is a BDS 6-71. Transmission is a TCI Turbo 400. Rear end is a Moser 9" with 40-spline gun-drilled axles. She'll scoot. The picture isn't current, but you get the idea. Ought to sound pretty rowdy with a set of sprint car-style headers.😉
