Another weird thing about Texas deer.

I was rolling down some interstate in west Texas in the big diesel truck one sunny afternoon, suddenly a spotted fawn ran across the road 50 yards ahead of me, and ran off into the mesquite bushes. Now, I've seen lots of spotted fawns in Georgia, but I never saw one that went 250 pounds. I thought "Dear God I hope I don't get called in for a random drug test today because I must be stoned on something…"

That night I researched it on my laptop and found that it was some imported species, axis deer or something, the does have spots even when fully grown, they bring them over from India and put them on game ranches for people to shoot. Evidently this one escaped the game ranch and was running wild in the mesquite patch.

Exotic imported species are not allowed in Georgia, but, Texas plays by their own rules.

Yes I tried it. Has a very long after taste. Would rather drink evercleir straight.

had a good friend I worked with who didn't hunt or seem to have any interest. I ask him one day before he retired if he would take up hunting when he retired to have something to do. He told me he went hunting once with his brother in law and he had grabbed the rifle out of the truck just as it got daylight he started across the road to head into the woods when he heard something and looked up and a 12 point was standing there staring at him, he shot it and then went back across the road to the truck and went to sleep. said he never went hunting again as it was to easy………!!!

Yep tried to sell mine but never got a bid, guess it will have to go in the next giveaway…………
