Sorry I don't have an objection to what other people do, but I don't visit GAY sights or respond to GAY e-mail addresses.

A new fad? Nah, I don't think so, back before the turn of the 00 it
was near hysteria among the 'survivalist' set to bury and stock up
on anything. I'm sure we all knew some of or were these people. Nothing wrong with being prepared. In my area, we had 'training teams'
of guys and gals that would, for a fee, help you with survive the coming disaster. Supposedly computers were to fail, riots, etc. but
    it didn't happen.

Before you get started on 'burying' things, I'd do some research and
find out for yourself what works, or even better, go bury a parts gun
an see how long it lasts. I bet it gets rusty inside six months.

As for the gov't not wanting to dirty themselves by digging through
your old junk and animal waste, well- reality check, they aren't. They
will use trustees, your family-probably in a plea bargain agreement,
and variety of heavy equipment. No one said that they had to recover
your weapon in pristine condition, one D7 cat will uproot a back and
front yard in manner of hours, not to mention a backhoe. As for metal
detectors, they have ground radar things that are used routinely to
find bodies under 6 feet of earth, I think they'll find your oblong
    'weapon case'.

If you really want to be a threat, learn how to make a weapon from
scratch and make a few hundred spare receivers, bolts, etc. but
if you're not that skilled, write a few hundred letters to editor,
congressmen, etc. Either way you'll be doing something useful.

good ones guys, I have to admit that I actually bought into this act. Stupid me, I really believed you were serious on this bulletin board. You finally went far enough for me to recognize the humor on this board. Imagine, actually advising people do bury weapons valued at over $500+ because the government was coming to take them. I should have realized that people who had time to post 2000-3000 times probably didn't do anything else. Life in front of a computer must be a lot more interesting when you can use your sense of humor.

    You sure got me.

I just uncovered a cache of mine that has been underground for just under three years.

The weapon and ammunition were in pristine condition.

It's all about how you do the burying. Naturally, if you just wrap your rifle in cosmoline and plastic wrap it will begin rusting out within 30 days. If you properly treat the rifle beforehand, it will keep underground for five years, no questions asked. After five years, simply uncover the cache and re-treat the rifle. Then re-bury it.

I'll try to get the exact instructions written up and posted by tomorrow evening.

Most of us have been here posting 3-4 messages a day for the past several years. Do the math, *.

    Jeez,
What's with all the hostile attitudes?
    Rosie, what's wrong with you?
So what if you think it's a stupid idea. Remember all of the New Millennium Hype? A lot of people stocked up on food, water and gasoline. Were they naive? I don't think so. Had the SHTF those people would have been the ones who were prepared. I thought the whole point of having a weapon was being prepared for unforeseeable circumstances?! It's amazing how much faith you put in people. Most people are sheep, and they'll give up their freedom if the government promises to protect them. Look at Canada, Australia and England if you don't think so! The US is the gun friendliest nation in the world but we stick out like a sore thumb. How much pushing do you think it will take from the United Nations and all of the other countries in the world before the US finally caves to a global arms ban for citizens? What am I saying, the US is already caving! Otherwise how do you explain New York and California. Believe it or not gun owners are outnumbered. Bush was barely able to defeat Gore, do you really believe all of Bush's votes were due to his pro-gun policies? It may not be around the corner but the wheels are in motion. Want to know how I know? A met someone today that was shocked they didn't need a license to own a gun. This weekend I spoke with a navy serviceman who didn't know civilians were allowed to own hi-capacity rifles. I meet these people all the time, and the sad part is, they aren't the exception, they're the norm!!! I meet people who don't even know they have a right to defend themselves! One lady told me we don't need weapons, that's why we have police. I know many women who've been duped into believing that they're incapable of defending themselves with a handgun, since the perpetrator will simply take the gun away! The only gun owners I know are TWICE my age and I can count them on one hand. It may not be instant, and it may not be drastic but anyone can see our rights are dissolving.

Don't worry about the bullet with your name on it, worry about the fragmentation grenade addressed 'To Occupant'.

OK, you guys sucked me in. I have just one thing to say. Before 9/11 would you have believed what you saw on that day? Anything is possible.

P.S. Another thought. Went to a friend's Father's funeral the other day. Mr. Spain was a WWII vet and the American Legion was on hand to provide Taps, etc. Well where was the traditional gun salute? I asked the SSGT that came to the Legion Hall afterwards. "Locked up in the Amory since 9/11," I was told. Well we all know that a bunch of Vets with "03 Springfields are a threat to national security. Don't we?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...even Boy Scouts believe that you should "Be Prepared". No one calls them paranoid.

Either you meant "other than on this forum" or you have more fingers than the average machine politician in Chicago.

Man, where *are* you, in the middle of the Berkley campus? You gotta get out more, amigo!
