I don't think you read all that was available about the attack. OK when was the last time we got any help from Israel?

Humor me, Tell me what did I miss that would change my statement about what occurred?Help from Israel? Do we not get intelligence from Israel? Let's say for sake of argument we don't get squat from the Israelis, since 1967, have the Palestinians been a friend or foe to the USA? Also, Why is it that if "we don't have a dog in this fight" are you seemingly taking such a position against Israel? Or is it just a position against anyone that has a preference in this situation?

We did get some intellengence from Israel but lost a great deal more due to Israeli spies (Pollard et.al.). Besides the Soviet Union ceased to exist 12 years ago. Don't forget that their nucular arsenal was built by Israeli/American scientists that used the information they got working on our nucular program. I have no problem with people comming to different informed decisions. (That's why people bet on horse races.) I do have a problem with our government getting involved so deeply on one side when there is no American interest involved & especally when I believe we are on the wrong side. We would all do well to read, reread & memorize Washingtons farewell address. If you can dismiss the attack on the Liberty as friendly fire I don't believe you read the details of the attack.

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear. I did not intend to imply that attack was by friendly fire. I was trying to say the USA has killed more friendly troops during war (used loosely i.e.. Korean, Viet Nam) than those that died on the USS Liberty.I did read more and typical of such situations more than one view exists. We are presented with the American view. However, "Various official statements from the US Government since the attack haveconceded that the ship's mission was to collect intelligence. Recentreports indicate that the actual primary mission of the ship was not toobserve the Arab-Israeli War, but--using the war as an excuse for beingin the area--to collect intelligence concerning the control andoperation of Soviet TU-95 Bear intercontinental bombers then stationedin Alexandria by the Soviet Union." Such changes in any story line, tends to make me question the story as a whole no matter whom is telling it. In your opinion, has the Palestinians been a friend or foe to the USA? And if so how?

I would be amazed if any Palistinians are friendly toward the U.S., why should they be?The mission of the Liberty could never to have been to observe the war since they din't know it was going to happen. They were an electronic spy ship operated by the Navy Security Service. Having spent four years in the Army Security Agency I believe I have a pretty good idea of the type of work they were doing. They were in a very good position to pick up a great deal of intellence information regarding events leading up to the outbreak of the war.

I thought the link you provided said it was day four of the six day war when this happened? I'll have to check when time allows.
