Yo Blade....or anybody....El Paso brings back some memories. Most people think the "cowboys" were after him because he shot the guy.....WRONG.....they were after him because he stole a horse. Back then, you could shoot a guy in self defense but you steal a man's transportation and what he needed to earn a living and you were in deep doggie-doo.
    "Tell me where I'm wrong."

    Mudge the thinker

ps. The definition of an "intellectual" is someone who can listen to the William Tell Overture and NOT think of the Lone Ranger.

I can't come to work today. The voices said, STAY HOME AND CLEAN THE GUNS!

    Hi Mudge,

When I was a kid and first heard El Paso, I tried to figure out why the guy was in trouble if the "wild young cowboy" reached for his gun first. Then I remembered about stealing the horse. Of course, the singer did start the fight in the first place.

How about this: Can you listen to the opening of Also Sprach Zarathustra and not think of the movie 2001? Man, that's hard for me!

Gordian-Actually, I think of Subways. I have played that piece a few times in an orchestra, and when the organist plays the introduction, the stage shakes so much it feels like a subway is running underneath you.

Elvis Costello? Yeah I like his music.

Ohh wait ,, you mean ELVIS as in Presley!?

Notin wrong with Elvis, I like more of the gospel music he did and his later stuff before he died. I'm not really into his Teenie Bopper music.

Wait, he aint dead. I passed him last week, he was driving a JB Hunt truck headed to Hunts Point with a load of potatoes.

GORDIAN....El Paso is one of my favorites. Marty Robbins sang that song along with 3 other gun fighter songs. He was going to do a fifth gunfighter song but died of a heart attack before he go around to it. Marty's real name was Martin Robinson and he was from Glendale, Arizona. His songs are favorites in the area of northern Arizona around Payson and KMOG Radio (1420 AM) has an old favorites program on Sunday mornings and they usually play at least one of those gunfighter songs each week.

    Scorpions
    Van Halen "old style"
    Metalica
    Rush
Ted Nugent "Double Live Gonzo" or "Intensities in Ten Cities"
