While I am glad for the mission success.

    Please excuse my ignorance:

#1 This is the first time I have heard of this person being held captive.

#2 The timing IE: SOTU Adress. I question....

There is a couple that many folks in my area knew personally, that were kidnapped at sea and killed far, far off the coast of Somalia about a year ago.

Many of those kidnapped or killed on land are there for varied purposes.

This link notes some of the many folks that have been kidnapped and/or tortured and/or ransomed, etc.

Congrats to the SEALs on a job well done....and kudos to the President for having the good sense to not grandstand about it during his State of the Union address

Ditto. I think it is great that we would go out and try to get our kidnapped folks back. I would not, however, brag about it as that puts the other kidnapped folks in danger. Just do it and don't talk about it IMO. Great job and kudos to our SEALS[:)]

Very good ... excellent reasoning and comments! Thanks to both.

cannot understand the mind set of do gooders that have prospered here and CANNOT see the need right under their noses at home then think that they have to got to farawayastan to save some peasant .... suppose they think they are accumulating points on the celestial scoreboard

If it was not an election year for the P.O.S. those people would have been left to rot!!!
Cudos to the seals they are great and thank god not one of them was injured.
The mission should NOT have been spoken about as mentioned here as it will just put other missions in trouble as they now know how we do it!.
