$33,000 Those were the days! Actually I was a building contractor at the time. Worked 10 hours a day and pulled my hair out the other 14. Glad I'm out of it.

When I was in college and Grad School in the late 70's, I worked for
the University I attended. I was employed as a Repairman for the Laundry consession the school operated.

One of the duties of the job was to collect the money from the 300+ machines every two weeks and take it to the bank for deposit. The average was approx. 12,000.00. The record was just over 17,000.00

Considering it was all in quarters and dimes, it was a good chunk of change...[;)]

In my possession? About $1.6 million. Back when the Army paid in CASH. Was a military pay agent. Had nice large bag of money, and a .45. Also had 2 Spec 4's that thought the world of me with M-14s! And at lunch that day, had to borrow a buck for a sandwich. There is NO justice!

Nope, they pissed me off and on the spot I demanded my money. LaSalle Bank and they keep a rather large reserve on premises.

Bank in downtown chicago pissed me off so I took out $83,000.00 + change in cash and got into a cab and went home. Next day deposited it and had a crapload of paperwork to fill out.

    PJ

Did you notify the bank ahead of time of the cash withdrawal? I bought a home and was going to close, went by my bank and wanted a cashier's check for $65K. They were going to charge me for the check.... so I told them I would take the cash. The bank didn't have that much in the vault !!! They ended up giving me the cashier's check ..

Just curious and certainly none of my business, but why would you put $1400 into Iraqi Dinars? Do you imagine they will be valuable one day? Want to buy a bridge?

I have left gun shows with a few Gs in cash.

When I had to travel interstate to buy a quantity of guns, I knew about, but not precisely, how much the sale would be, so I had a cashier's check for the bulk of it, and a little cash to make up the difference.

It didn't bother me a bit to stop and spend the night en route there, but on the way back, with the back of my pickup loaded with guns, I didn't dare stop except for gas and food.

Traveling with huge amounts of cash is just stupid.

Many years back, around $100,000 of someone else's money enroute to a deposit at the bank. And no gun. No knife. No mace. It was back in NYC in the late 60's. I doubt I'd ever do that again.

On my grandmother's honor I swear to you that my partner and I had $148,000,000.00 (one hundred and forty eight million dollars) in US $100.00 bills in our possession. That was in 1998. I also had a couple of guns with a lotta of ammo, a bullet resistent vehicle and a 22 yearold tiny girl for a partner plus a straight shot on the interstate down to Mexico. I probably should have handcuffed the partner and made my run and I would be living in Mexico like King Midas.

Oh, well. I'm just too damn honest.

From a safety point of view, should anyone really advertise that information on the Internet, even on a gun forum?

In excess of $550,000 carried in two huge leather bags from point "A" to point "B" in Virginia. I had to escort a disbursing Captain [to places which shall remain untold] because the computers back then overheated and burned out. Because of this, cash payments had to be made and i was the only available "gunner" around.[:(]
I was only allowed enough ammo to get killed if SHTF. Five rounds for the 45 and five for the M-16[:(]

Good point, so here is a disclaimer. All that huge money carrying stopped as of 9-11-01. I now carry no more than what I can sneak past my wife and out of the house (usually $5.00 or so).

And while I appreciate the advice, if I felt any fear from posting on the internet about something that happened about 8 years ago, how do you think I managed to actually transport that $148,000,000.00? with only me and a 22-24 yearold tiny girly? Heck, for that kind of jackpot, some small foreign country might seriously think about sending a hundred or so troops in helicopters or something to grab that money. Or even 148 career criminals who could rob us and get one million each.

Besides, unless someone has a time machine and can travel back to 1998 and rob me, I now have no worries because I am out of the business of risking my life moving around huge amounts of money for little pay and even less backup support.

But seriously, I do appreciate your warning.

Had a guy buy my a truck from me and paid me in cash. $16,750. I was nervous as a cat until I got it to the bank! I don't like large sums of cash! I usually carry less than $1,000 in cash on vacation if it's going to last a week or more. I try to do everything on credit cards and just pay it off at the end of the month.

Maybe you should have taken the 22 year old with you. $148million split two ways with benefits still not too shabby! Was she pretty hot?
Personally, I would settle for $1.48 right now. I'm broke as a joke. And my wife would never let me keep the 22 year old!
