I have shot many guns in my time, but I cannot say that there are weapons I have fired that have proven to be completely worthless. They may have something wrong with them, but they have good features, also.
What do you guys think? Are there any guns out there that are just completely terrible?

It all depends on the use intended for the firearm. If you are going to count on it to protect your life and your families lives then there are many who don't pass muster. I would not trust anything that I have experienced malfunctions with or that I haven't shot extensively to prove its functionability. If its just for plinking, then its up to the user to decide if it functions adequately enouph to suit them. I personally dont like cheap stuff. I feel that good stuff isnt cheap and cheap stuff isnt good but sometimes you can find a happy medium. Stick with the good stuff and you will be happier for it.

    Not necessarly in order:

    1)Talon
    2)Lorcin
    3)Raven
    4)Jennings
    5)Davis
    6)High Point
7)Any firearm that is made with materials better suited for your childs die-cast toys.

The main attribute for many of those on interstates list is

    1. CHEAP
    2. CHEAP
    3. CHEAP
    4. Most are heavy enough to hurt bad when thrown
    5. Make decent paperweights
    6. Shipping cost for warranty exceeds worth of gun

Another I would like to add to the list is any RG revolver.

I believe most of the guns on interstate's list are made by the Jennings family, who insists on making guns out of soft metals like "pot metal" or zinc, which wear and begin to break down from the first shot. You can have a catastrophic failure literally on any given round, potentially.

These guns, while they may go off for a while if well cleaned, deburred inside and oiled, are in my opinion much too soft to be reliable for serious purpose. It is too bad these guys haven't had the sense to upgrade to a stronger metal, which might revolutionize the performance and opinion of guns like the Jennings, Lorcin and Davis. They certainly have the distribution to profit from improved quality, even if the guns had to go up a few bucks in price with better steel.

I agree that they are cheap, not the strongest and no where near perfect - BUT - they fill a need and provide affordable self-defense to those who can afford no better.

Now, if you want to discuss a totally worthless gun, how about any DAO semi-automatic -particularly one chambered in 9MM????

I have found most people that own Kimbers are really envious of those that own Colts.
There are Colts and everything else is just a hammer.

Now really guys! I will have you know that 12 models of the Davis and 2 models of the HIPOINT handguns have passed California's new "Safe Gun Test". The test includes extensive drop testing and reliabity functioning with live ammo. What more could you ask from the leaders in "sensible gun laws? he,he ........Hondo

mudge - Yeah, but folks have come to expect it from me

sjc1 - Envious of those that own Colts? I don't think so, if you can afford a Kimber, you can afford a Colt ... its just a choice.

hondo - To think, for the price of 1 Kimber I could be the proud owner of all 12 models of the Davis and 2 models of the HIPOINT ... to me thats almost as ironic as California's new "Safe Gun Test

Shootist - I have personlly seen (not my guns) the slides from two jennings going downrange behind the bullet. I did not see it happen, but I saw a Lorcin that had "evaporated" when fired.

    kimberkid;
I agree with you. I was just trying to stir things up seeing that you did not have much luck. Kimbers are fine handguns. I am glad that they are in business and doing well. To be honest, Colt and Smith&Wesson need a company like Kimber to keep them on their toes and if they are not on their toes, then Kimber will pass them by.

Sorry Judge. I just find it a little silly, and dangerous to a newcomer to shooting, to be recommending a Jennings over a Smith & Wesson DA 9mm, on a thread about junk guns. That's all. I don't even shoot 9mm anymore, and I don't choose to buy DA/SAs, but if I needed a real gun I'd sure take one over any Jennings family product. To say otherwise is goofy.

Helwan Brigadier. Picked it up to be a truck box gun, but it won't fire a mag (8 rounds) without at least 4 jams. My Colt Mk IV is the most unreliable gun I have besides that.
