I agree that they are cheap, not the strongest and no where near perfect - BUT - they fill a need and provide affordable self-defense to those who can afford no better.
Now, if you want to discuss a totally worthless gun, how about any DAO semi-automatic -particularly one chambered in 9MM????

Quod principi placuit legis habet vigorem.
Semper Fidelis

I'm not going to address the catastrophic failure part of the argument. But the red highlighted part is also a fallacy. My girlfriend owned a Jennings. It would stovepipe badly and consistently. It simply didn't work as intended. I urged her to get rid of it. She did and was so appreciative of my help that she married me.

OK, the last part is an exaggeration. She married me because of my devastating good looks and otherworldly sexual prowess.

But my point is this: Cheap guns fail more than good guns. Poor folk who need a gun would be better off saving for something of substance.

The main attribute for many of those on interstates list is

1. CHEAP
2. CHEAP
3. CHEAP
4. Most are heavy enough to hurt bad when thrown
5. Make decent paperweights
6. Shipping cost for warranty exceeds worth of gun

Another I would like to add to the list is any RG revolver.

the beauty of a hipoint is that they are so cheap should one break they are cheap enough to just buy a new one.

I have all but ONE of them up...but soon to come up is a Clerke....that fits really nicely in with the rest listed. I wouldn't trow away anything that actually worked. There may be a place where a "cheapie" would be nice to have. In a tool box, in the trunk of the car, in a canoe going down the river....who wants to take a chance in messing up something nice??? Plus, someone that doesn't have any money to spare should have some kind of option. A $40 gun is better than nothing.

IMHO an empty (unloaded) gun is worthless.....pieces of costly metal....maybe useful as a club.

[:O] Just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you!

Wow ... eight years later and actually I've had several but I still haven't found even one that I wanted and was worth keeping ... Funny how things don't change.

Of course Colt is still riding on their name. Have they came out with even one new gun in the last 8 years that isn't just a variation of an old design?
If you really desire something, you'll find a way ?
? otherwise, you'll find an excuse.
