Anything made between 1860-1940 or replicas of them. Being chambered for a cartridge that requires a little work to shoot. For example I love my .32-40 because the only way I can afford to shoot it , is to reload it.
I am an unfinished-project-gun collector. I look for guns with an eye to modifying them in some way to make them more interesting. I didn't start out to do this, it just happens! Lately, my interests have been turning to .22's and big-bores. I guess I have had enough of the middle for now - unless I can get a good deal on a Mauser project!
I am a pistol man, primarily a 45 MAN. I shoot hogs with an old 1911A1 1943, US ARMY model, have shot 6 feral hogs to date, three at one time. At 30 yards there is nothing better, I use the Winchester self defense, ammo,SILVER TIP HOLLOWPOINT. because when the hogs get pissed-off you are no longer hunting, you are defending yourself. No problem penetrating the thick skin, had a couple of rounds literaly bounce of the skull, but, the other rounds made their mark, no hog ever ran more than 20 yards, talk about knock down power!
