Like has already been mentioned, no crook is going to go to the trouble of buying a high-dollar collectible Mauser to use to rob a bank.

As a matter of fact, no crook is going to draw attention to himself by trying to use forged documents to obtain weapons at all. He'll simply steal what he wants or buy it from another crook who did so.

It makes about as much sense as the nonsensical "gun show loophole" argument. No "terrorist" is going to go to a gun show in the US and buy a semi-auto AK-47 for $1200 when he can walk down the street in his home town and swap a couple of chickens for a full-auto one.

Very naive of you. Criminals use forged and stolen documents all the time to commit criminal acts. There are a great many semi auto rifles like SKSs and M1 Carbines, very efficient semi auto pistols, and excellent high power military rifles that are C&Rs and very affordable and deadly in the hands of criminals. The Glocks, Sigs, Brownings, etc. that criminals use are not cheap. Stealing a particular gun you want is not that easy. You have to know exactly where it is and plan a dangerous crime to obtain it. It would be much easier just to have someone mail it to you. And you do not have to get it from a dealer, a private party selling the gun on GB can ship it to your altered C&R license.

    yawn...

    Are you a dealer KEVD18?

    i am not.

what i am is tired of new posters who come here and within 5 posts of being a member(frequently their first post) * and moan about something that not only can we do nothing about, but has been beaten to death and driven into the ground so many times we long time members can recite this argument in our sleep.

try the search feature. this has been done.

and why dont you try introducing yourself before you come into our house and start whining like a kid who dropped his ice cream cone.

hell kevin I kind of like him, must be that whiny nasal voice he has when he complains............... don't think I could get used to it though.

No need for the personal attacks when you never met me or heard my voice. I've been an active member of this auction site for 20 years plus or minus. This is my house too.

so you got here 5 years before the auction side started, sorry for your long wait no wonder your disapointed

We have had several logical responses to his question as to why dealers will not accept 03 licenses. If some you "yawn" and "IBTL" guys are so upset at his asking his question why do you bother to waste your time responding to him. Go walk your dog or something. There is currently a thread on pickled herring. No interest to me, so I move on.

I've been with GB since they started. That would be the - side of +/- then. Forgive me for not counting the years, although it seems like more than 15 years. At any rate, I belong here as much as anyone else.

Once again however, you're purposely missing the point of the discussion. Dealers should serve customers here with C&R licenses and they should be boycotted by all C&R holders on ALL their sales here if they won't. That would change things and it is worth discussing often.

You have quoted the wrong guy.

However....as some have already said....most of us agree with you, but....it is up to the seller....and bitching about sellers is verboten.

If you continue the thread will be locked or poofed.

And everybody should ship to California as well. But given the high amount of customers on the auction side versus the low amount of customers on the forum side, and factoring in all the customers who don't care because they are not affected, you end up with no results by discussing it here.

Be great if the Cap'n would junk out those sellers who make their own laws.

I actually agree with you on that point.

There would be a lot of sellers junked for not selling to California.

OK, go ahead and rant if it makes you happy. It will solve nothing. Dealers are not elected as are politicians you use as support for continuing to scream.

    Scream away.

Dealers don't make laws, but they do make their own policies.

the boss is adamant about being informed about dealers who make up their own rules. whether this narrow sub topic meets his definition is up to him, but he has always wanted to be informed about dealers who dont receive from private parties and so forth.

I have found that some FFL's don't know what a C&R is and how it works and will accept it when it is explained to them. I am a longtime buyer here with good feedback and that should calm the fears of leery FFL's. I always ask when in doubt and have not had a refusal in a long time. Healthy discussion is never a bad thing.

i cant help but wonder how many C&R holders there are that dont know the rules either, that think they can buy a new glock or ar with it

we almost always assume its the dealers who are the uninformed

Agree with Slumlord. Have held an 03 since 1976. I have met a number of 01s that really do not know what an 03 is. Yes, you CAN verify my 03FFL- just not on-line.

If a dealer does not want to honor an 03 for a patently C&R eligible gun- his auction, his choice. My money, my choice. I have 4 LGSs that have a copy of my license on file. They are quite comfortable with doing business with me.

But I will admit it gripes me to have someone ADVERTISE a gun as C&R, and THEN refuse to honor a C&R FFL.

Crooks do smash and grabs at local gun shops often, different type of criminal altogether. A pro smart enough to forge documents uses his talent to steal things tremendously more valuable than guns, and doesn't need to subject himself to shooting someone or being shot.

What does it matter? The feds will go after the forger/thief anyway if the dealer has been fooled by a forgery.
