He could have hurt someone if he had thrown those empty magazines at them. [:(!]

LeRay, NY Man Faces Weapons Possessions Charges

A town of LeRay man was accused Sunday of possessing high-capacity magazines for an assault rifle.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies say 32 year old Nathan Haddad allegedly had five 30-round magazines for an AR-15 rifle in his possession.

Police say the magazines were found during a vehicle check on Steinhilber Road in the town of LeRay.

Haddad was charged with five counts of third degree criminal possession of a weapon and arraigned in Watertown town court.

Magazines are a weapon? Akin to flat rocks, I presume.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

"The Warrior Games are as close as I can get to fulfill a dream I have had since I was four," said Staff Sgt. Haddad as he checked the tension on his bow. "And, the training and exercises are similar to that of the physical therapy that I do for my injuries."

Could someone please explain to me what a "vehicle check" is?

All I know is in Texas, they have to have probable cause to pull you over. Of course, we still have the 4th Amendment down here. For now.

We do but post-ban mags over 10 rounds are still illegal. That applies to pre-ban mags.

My understanding is that there was a chase and other charges before the search happened.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok...let me see if I am understanding this....if he had PRE BAN 30 round mags in his car, no problem, but because he had the far deadlier POST BAN mags, he is going to jail???? Pre ban and post ban both hold 30 rounds....but one is good and one is evil???? What a bunch of friggin idiots running that state.[:(!][xx(]

Never EVER give your consent for a random car search. They may STILL conduct one, but if they do it without your permission and without probable legal cause, a good defense attorney has a decent chance of barring any evidence found. [:)] Just politely inform the requesting cop that with all due respect, you never consent to warrantless searches, just on principle.

    Setup? Intentional?

    Intentional test case?

Will be hear Barack Obmama calling a beer summit? What a lame joke that was!

Will Joe Biden say "If I had a son he would look like ..."

Will this guy be a poster case?

Will protestors descend on this town?

Will Eric Holder put this guy in a prison cell next to some schmuck who made a youtube mohammad video?

Will there be cries for mercy to our king obama?

i live up here and from I what I gather the kid had a personal Ar-15 with him, and since 30rds mags have been illegal since 1994, technically he was in the wrong. Problem is he should have been smart enough to know, but chances are he was using GI mags in his personal weapon, I was in the army in the 10th MTN and just got out. And I had plenty of soldiers do dip chit stuff like this.

We always told guys do not go to canada with gear, and if you keep your gear in your trunk do not mix it with private weapons.

In the end kind of a stupid case, but the soldier made a bone head choice.

I think I speak for several people when I say I would like to shake the man's hand and help him if I could. I am glad for his family that he came home alive, if wounded, and hope his country is grateful for his sacrifices.

I am not sure what's going on with this. Are you saying he had pre ban mags over ten rounds that he should have disposed of long ago?

Or are they his Military issue mags? Should they be exempt?

Its a shame what is happening in NY and in this country with the gun law madness...

It is one hysteria to the next, with the gov and media driving citizens to live in fear. God save us from our terror from within.

He is no longer in the Army.

The mags are post 1994 ban and illegal by NY law. This has nothing to do with the current BS that is going on in this state.
