So, what has been your single biggest gun purchase ever. I'm still a lightweight as the most money I have been able to afford on a gun is $350.Even so, I still have my eyes on a Bushmaster, unfortunately my wallet never seems to agree with my tastes.

A pre-ban AR-15 for $1100. I guess my vernacular is incorrect since it was an Olympic Arms rifle.

AR-15 BUSHMASTER,like you I have problems with having enough money for guns. I started putting $50 a week in my savings account with my credit union, money comes out of my check and I never miss it. I do not feel as guilty when I use this money for guns, accessories, atv goodies, etc. At least this is the tale I told my wife. Oh yeah,I buy my wife something from this money on occassion. Her hobbies are much cheaper than mine!

The most that I have ever paid for a gun was $375 but just wait until I put out for a M1A or the new Ruger double.

    My first Bushy was $1400.

My 7mm that I just had built last year has cost me enough that I coulda bought 6 Rem 700s for the money I have in it. I havent even got a scope for it yet so add in the cost of maybe 2 more Rem 700s for that when I get it, which will be very soon.

I paid $1200 for an SP-1, feel it was overpriced, but I really wanted it, really really bad, and had the opertunity to place it on lay-away, so I took it.

If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

$200 for a US Marshall flintlock pistol. But that was in 1961, the first year my wife and I married. To put the purchase in perspective, my weekly takehome pay was $40. I spent 5 weeks pay for a pistol!!!

Still have it...and the same wife.

Went to a farm auction about ten years ago, Got in a lil bidding competition with another collector. Those farmers shook thier heads for a month I bet. The take an 1884 trapdoor about 85% finish all origional and a Stevens 44 in .22LR with a pope stamped bull barrel. The Stevens had a really great factory rear sight just like you see on some of the sharps' and a Beach front. It was one sweet piece. Walked away with both guns $975.00 later. I figure between cash and trades I nearly doubled my money. I really wish I had kept the stevens though.

YEEOWTCH! Lordy, spent about $1,200 for my LAR Grizzly .50 BMG, then about another $1,200 for a Nightforce scope! WHY did I drop so much scratch?!?

But I love it every time it beats the hell out of me! Do you suppose I would spend the money on a Dominitrix if I didn't have the .50?

Like many here I felt like I got reamed when I bought my first AR-15, paid $375 for it ... used! Of course this was back in the mid 80's ...

Most expensive would have to go to my AUG's ... Special Reciever (matched barrel & carrier) and A2 (all matching) ... The only kicker is I have others with a better trigger and more accurate (I think the trigger has a lot to do with that) ... but darn, I love to shoot them and I think they are the coolest!

pickenup ... how long ago was it? The AUG values have really shot up in the last few years in our area ...

A new condition IMI Uzi Carbine Type A, unfired, with 4 mags, folding stock, barrel shroud, in the original box with the receipt for its original purchase in 1982. I paid $1600 in 1991. Not a mark on the gun, the mags, or the feed ramp. I never fired it either.

I don't want to guess what you had to give for that Stehr Aug, but bullpup designs are usually not for me, no matter how gorgeous -- can you guess my problem? I'm left handed.

Most I ever spent on a gun was $279 for a Marlin 3030 at KMART. I have about ten guns, half of which were given to me, the other half I paid very little money for(less than $200).

About 1050.00 for my M1A. I am now saving for a licensed full auto sear for my AR-15 (3500.00) or a Double rifle of .40 caliber or more (2000.00 to start). I could echo many of the other comments above. Thats a lot of money and I hope my wife never finds out are the two that come to mind.

The AR, although it didn't start out that way.

    Originally a .223 bull barrel post-ban

The a 7.62 upper (actually two of them)

Then a .223 plinker upper, to shoot cheap ammo without using the bull barrel

Next a dedicated .22lr upper, because it's so cost effective (???)

Of course there's 4 scopes, cases, tools, etc..............

First expensive rifle- rebarreled rollingblock in 45-70-$650 great shooter.

second The custom rolling block I am currently building- pistol grip stock, octagon receiver, 34 inch octagon barrel with MVA sights in 45-90. Xtra fancy wood! Figure I already have a little over $1000 in it and dont even have the barrel on it yet

Of course I can play the piano, as long as it has pedals!

A lot of people aren't aware that the AUG is designed for right OR left handed shooters ... just install a left hand bolt (about $200 and not dificult to find) then switch the ejection port cover to the other side ...

about $xxxx.xx for my 280 ackley built on a 700rem action. Then, of course, a good rifle desrves a leupold mark IV on top of it. WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Desert Eagle in 50AE with 6" and 10" barrels. Hogue grips, and a leupold LG35 red dot, WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!

Of course I'm not too sure they are all not worth every penny.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

That's interesting news about the Stehr AUG. Now all I need is the price of the gun plus $200 for the left handed bolt. It's a dream, though. I still cry over the loss of the most perfect Uzi I'll probably ever own -- being a writer, projects come and go. Sometimes you got money, sometimes you need money. I let that Uzi go for $1100 by mail order, and when the guy got it he was amazed how nice it was. I wanted to write him, then send me another $500! The only thing that would make me happier is a full-auto in excellent condition, but now we're talking $3500. As for the Stehr, they're at least $2000 in semi, I believe. Boy, could I kick myself over that Uzi though.

Can you take a picture and post it so we can see it?

I'm very curious as to what type of rifle you praise so highly!!
