Epic performance by both teams. This one had a few parallels with the Texas & USC 2006 national championship game. I think I heard Watson even refer to Vince Young, the Texas QB. USC had two Heisman winners in Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart...Young, of course was shunned in that department. Hats off to Dabo Swinney and Clemson!
Right Mark. I was thinking about what movies were available in the first quarter. I hung into it and what a game. Kimi was right. It was a toss up and went down to 1 second. What else could you ask for? Now if the Packers can just do the same.
That was one heck of a fun game to watch!
Wow, who saw that point total coming!! Vegas had the over/under at like 51, and many gamblers liked the under!
Congratulations to Clemson!
I wonder how many first round draft picks were on the field last night......

Well I hate the outcome but Congrats to Dipo Swinney and his team.
Living in SC and being a Gamecocks fan is going to be intolerable with Clemson as the National Champ.
Maybe the quality players from SC who won't get into Clemson due to the draw from National Championship status filling all the slots with out of state players will help USC's program. [}:)][:D]
You would think I would think I would have some state pride and be glad a Carolina team won but I don't [:D][B)][:0][}:)]
Why don't we go to school and work on the weekends and take the week off!

I would have taken the over at 51. I thought the game would go 4 touchdowns each and then the "what ever" the fortune winds brought that allowed the winner to win, fumble, interception, long field goal, what ever.
Turns out Clemson overcame the "what ever", that being the fumble and Alabama field goal. Clemson put on a strong performance overcoming 4 things I thought may get them beat. The no call on the targeting that stopped the receiver short of a first down and effected him for part of the game (he finished strong), the 4th down failure that followed, (should have kept the ball in the quarterbacks hands and let the RB block) and the 2 fumbles, one of which resulted in the Alabama field goal.
Clemson played strong, I thought they could win, but I didn't think they would fumble twice and win.

I had figured that Bama would kick at least one too many field goals where the final score mattered, and a score of 27-26 Clemson edge was not wishful thinking, but a real possibility. Me, I would not take the over under since figuring the spread is much easier for me.
I think the difference in the game was that Clemson is a much more well rounded team where mixing the very best of four and five star players with the up tempo offences as found in the Big-12, for one, where three and four star players are the norm. Here is an article that seems to support this idea.
Clemson's national championship win over Alabama was 5 years in the making
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
Clemson QB to his team preceding their moment of glory:
"I was calm," Watson said. He said he thought about Vince Young's last-second touchdown for Texas that derailed the Southern California's championship run in the 2005 BCS title game at the Rose Bowl. He told his team: "Let's go be great."
