Well I sent a rifle to New Mexico standard mail. Priority takes two days.. so it arrived in two days. Maybe a fluke.. Well I mailed one to Illinois the same way standard mail... it gets there today the same way.. in 2 days... just a little info that they don't have to go priority. And you will save a bundle in shipping.

A mere 100 years or so, the Postal service consisted of horses,, riders who were brave men, who rode through the elements, hostile indians and seldom traveled lands, and accomplished the almost impossible, delivering the Mail from St. Louis to California in just 7 days. Now a days with Airplanes, trucks, a couple hundred thousand, handlers, computer and Zip code sorters, it only takes 14 days.

Had a package shipped from a little less than 100 miles away on Monday morning and it is just now in Tampa,, 65 miles further south from us. Now it has to double back to get here..[xx(][xx(]

I was on their website trying to ship something to Estonia, the web site would not let me move forward, it was stating that my phone# was invalid, it was not.

I went to the help chat, they stated it is a know issue, WTH, if it is a know issue why not fix it, no wonder they are in a mess they are. I will ship it FedEx Monday [:D]

What a Joke. Having a fire arm sent to my FFL. Just got the Notice come pick it up at the post Office.

My FFL will not go pick it up.

    I see this as a lost cause.[V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V][V]

Have things changed or is my dealer just getting the run around ?
He went to mail the little PP I sold here on GunBroker and the local post office would not ship it. He's just getting started and I'm trying to help him out all I can. Ups wanted a freaking 117 bucks but FedEx did it for 38 at a drop off location. Anyway I found where it says a dealer can ship a handgun though the USPS but wanted to make sure I did not miss anything.

Ok this is the last time I vent about these guys. I have had guns lost. Scopes busted. And now a new one. I bought a scope off the auction ( one that was delivered in a box that was crushed thank god the scope was ok) I messed up and sent the guy 5 dollars not enough.
I sent a check to him 4 weeks ago and guess what???????????? today I get a email saying he never got it. I called my bank and it was never cashed. Another letter lost to the post office. Just once I would like to make a transaction sending through the mail and it get there on time in a good condition and I get the Item back in the same good condition. I am thinking it is being done at my local post office the post master hates guns and knows I own them. I guess I can drive 20 miles to the big city and start sending from there but then that does not work on my end. O well there is always fed ex.

What happened to "neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom" or whatever it is? Haven't had mail delivered since last Friday. Mailman came at 6PM today. I remember having delivery when we had twice the snowfall we had Friday night. Guess everything is pussified these days.[}:)]

    1. They couldn't cash my USPS money order because there was no supervisor there. They said come back tomorrow.

    2. Those priority boxes have a warning that it's against federal law to use them for other than their intended purpose.

    3. I'm kinda booked up til Monday, I hope the feedback Nazi don't get me. Sellers who want to be lawyers take note!

Our postman does a great job for us.

Brings packages down the steps and if we are not home, places them under cover and out of view from the road.

    Great people locally.

I sold an item on fleabay. The item was going to New Hampshire the buyer wanted to send me an extra $2 to ship Priority mail. An 8 lb box going to New Hampshire was $19 and change. I shipped it for $13 by Fed/Ex ground. Shipped item on Tuesday he received it today. I pretty much don't ship anything Priority mail over 3 lbs. I saved him 6 bucks and he got it just as fast.

It makes no difference which company is used for shipping where damage from handling can come into play, it needs to be packed for the worst possible handling, i.e. dropped on it's end from a height of several feet, crushed at any angle by heavier packages, etc. Package items so that there is no rattle, but well cushioned. Packing items "too tightly" with balled up newspaper, for example, might not be a good idea either.
    What's next?

I bought a mag from a guy in Texas. It took three days to go from Sugar Land to San Antonio. Then went to Santa Clarita, CA before getting to Columbus, OH then down to me [V]
That is the only problem I've had. Don't blame my PO on that [^]

Shipped quite a few things but not much lately. Can't remember a single problem ever with the postman and I've been a USPS customer for over 50 years.

The office employees are a little different but even those guys people are MUCH improved over the last ,, 10 years.

There is NOT a postal department in Colombia. Take your package to a private delivery service,, pay,, and you're pretty much assured the package will be delivered in 4 days maybe 5 but I'm in a rural area.

    Exceptions for remote locations.

Contract delivery, even international mail,, better than the U.S. because they "shove it" under your door. Includes electric, gas, internet and water every month and Bank statements every 3 months. Cable TV sends a payment book every year.

    Example:
    Cable TV: 30:000 per month
    Gas: 6:000 per month.
    Internet 2mb: 50,000 per month.
Group Health Insurance: 75,000 per month

Added bonus: No Mail Box,, just a space between the door and floor.

USPS,, no problem,, but for the most part,, not necessary.

My biggest problems with the post office,is not getting my mail in the right box!....I have had several pieces of mail(checks) put in the wrong boxes and arrive several monthes later after I accused my customers of not paying....its hell to have call your customer, and tell them you have received payment after six months and a stop payment which has a cost...all because the old lady that runs P.O. can't read...[xx(]

I recently purchased some ammo on the auction side.
Seller charged me $20 to ship it via UPS Ground; which he did.
UPS brought it to my home town, where they handed it over to the POST OFFICE to deliver to my PO box!

I guess even UPS trusts the Postal Service.

I ship all over the world and don't have a problem. Anything heavy goes in a PRIORITY flat rate box. Cheaper and faster than anything else, plus, they provide the boxes and the tape.

I'm a mail man. I'm not a mind reader however. If you want your carrier to know something or put your packages somewhere, write a note or call the PO and ask for a supervisor. We had a heavy snow here Wednesday night, as did a lot of places. If you're waiting on a package that was supposed to be delivered Thursday or today, You probably won't see it till Monday or Tuesday since it was most likely in a truck sitting along a highway somewhere, waiting out the weather.

USPS is not competitive pricing wise over 3 lbs unless you are a FFL.

My shipping patterns have nothing to do with being or not being an FFL . 98% of what I ship is on fleabay and another site where my son sells basketball cards.

You can get a simple discount just using USPS's web site. Fed/Ex and USPS give greater discounts to fleabay sellers but the 3 lb. rule still pretty much applies, unless the shipping distance is within 500 miles or so. Then Fed/Ex just kills the post office in lower rates. I'm sure Fed/Ex also does the same thing on GB. I would say that if I sold a rifle here on GB then I would ship Priority mail. Fed/Ex would want to know whats in the box. The PO doesn't really give a crap unless it is something hazardous or dangerous.

USPS is great at my home. The driver is stable and sane. He will put packages on the well house lid if I am not home. The UPS driver is my buddy, he knows he can leave stuff here. [^][^]

My FFL on the other hand has a driver from the insane asylum, he is literally nuts, refuses to deliver packages leaves bogus attempted delivery tags and has threatened to kill people so they will listen to him when he says he is nuts and needs help. [B)][:0]

Bought an item from ebay and asked the seller about delivery. Wanted the item sent USPS Priority, Insured, signature required. Why because OTHER folks left it at the door and didn't even ring door bell and it was tooo much money to lose and I did NOT mind going to the post office if I missed the postman.

Surprise, email in less than a hour and informed OK,, he'd include those items in price quoted on ebay at no additional charge. That was nice and said "Good Luck in International Shipping"..

Surprise !!! He returned the email and he said ebay was setup with a firm that specializes in International shipping so it was not a problem. Correspondence was via: ebay. So didn't ask more.

Question,, kind of related to this thread,, anyone use this service?

BTW: My address is the postmans "LAST STOP" and that is between 5:45 and 6:15, I'd say he works pretty hard.

Change USPS to UPS and I am with you. Mostly we get the best service from USPS, and Fed Ex is next. Brown sucks and so to most of those "surepost" hybrid things, adds at least an extra day.
